Incredible Hulk #1 Page By Page Marvel Silver Age Comic Book Readthrough - A Still Only 35c Special

Welcome to this special issue of the brand new comic and collecting channel, Still Only 35c.
Many of us never get the chance to see the interior pages inside our precious CGC slabs. So for this special ongoing Still Only 35c special series, I thought I'd share Page by Page comic book readthroughs of key comic books prior to submission, so that you can see these books before they are sealed away when graded. Join us as we enjoy comic books as they were meant to be seen.
To kick off these specials, I present the UK Price Variant of 1963's Incredible Hulk #1 featuring the 1st Appearance of Dr. Bruce Banner/Hulk, General Thunderbolt Ross, Betty Ross and Rick Jones and the origin of the Incredible Hulk.
This book was featured in my first CGC grade reveal video and received a CGC grade of 5.5 Off White to White Pages.
Hope you enjoy this series and let us know what other books you'd want to see next.

Jack Kirby is truly the King! Love the Part 2 splash page and the ads. Especially the Fantastic Four ad.

Awesome awesome awesome!! Thank you for doing this, it was such a treat to be able to deep dive such an iconic issue! I truly appreciate this. I also want to say that the music to commentary volume levels were perfect. I was able to understand everything you said while the mood of the story was enhanced with the background music! You did a great job of giving us (the audience) a clear, thorough, and easy to follow overview of each page without reading every single panel. Well done my friend, looking forward to the next video!!

Thanks, it was so much fun skimming through these books before submitting. So much so I'm now doing this with all my keys and rare books. More Page By Page coming soon including Amazing Spider-Man 1.

Great issue - nice read through, but I don't understand why you got it graded only to open it up again? I guess for the shock factor and views?!

That's great feedback. I actually filmed this prior to grading at the hotel prior to submitting at Baltimore Comic Con knowing it would be encapsulated from that point on. I'll have a number of the others from that coming soon. Additionally I'll be doing this with other books I submit from now on too.

@@StillOnly35c Oh, I didn't realise it was prior to grading :D - One final read before encapsulating! I do have another question, are all eras of books graded to the same standard? 5.5 is the same on a Golden age or something from 2020?

My understanding is that whilst there may be some consideration for age, CGC evaluate each book on its merits and each book is graded by counting any issues with a book to define the grade. The Official CGC Guide to Grading Comics (www.cgccomics.com/news/article/10586/cgc-guide-grading-comics-nelson) by Matt Nelson provides a great resource on how this works.

@@StillOnly35c Aah, I see now - I guess that's why anything under 8.5 for recent comics is regarded as trash - where a 3.0 Silver age can be worth big money, as there aren't so many about.
