Little did those workers know that this far in the future thousands of people would not only be admiring their work but just that their work would see the light of day and survive this long.
Hi, I am Mr. Krieghoff Number 10 and I do have some concerns about this Krieghoff: The G makes me wonder, the G on my No10 is a typical small G for Krieghoffs. When you watch the surface under the G of N01, it is rouffer then normal (this quality is not Krieghoffs, it looks that somebody took material away). On the front side of the grip the 01 is really badly stamped, it looks also, they took away some material before. The blue color on the strow trigger, that would never happened at Krieghoffs factory. The worst thing is the story behind it. As fare as I understood, a US soldier took it away from a dead german paratrooper at the end of WWII. This can't be true, because I am sure that Mr Krieghoff keept the No1. In the story there must be a connection to the familly or there closest friends. But please do not mind, I really like your great videos. You are the best expert I know in the US for all Luger P08 Pistols. With the Lugers you also beat Ion McCollum. Please excuse my bad english, greetings from Germany, Toni
Wow this was AWESOME! Rip to Don. He would be proud of how high his son holds him in esteem. Incredible story and an incredible gun, to still exist, that’s almost unbelievable..
I love when Tom rocks our world. These guns are works of art 👍
BIG THANKS for showing this "dream comme true" gun, Tom!! This is a real "from outer space" find, congratulations :)
Outstanding story and an amazing Luger. Someone will be getting a true holy grail when it is sold!
Wow! What a lovely group of interactions between people with a common interest. Great video. Thank you, sir!
That’s an incredible find. So happy it has survived all these years.
I have watched every Luger video that you’ve ever released and my favourite used to be the Canadian rescue videos with the oven mitts! This kreighoff #1 is such a historical find I would be reduced to tears just to hold it in my hand. I received Toms Third Reich Luger book signed by him and posted all the way to London last week, if you collect Lugers it’s a fantastic book and you need to buy a copy. Thanks for another brilliant video legacy collectables.
I think this is my favorite video you have made. I have watched most all you have put out. Really good one. Thanks for sharing this.
The 'white' joint or the light breach is not due to "poor bluing/finish", instead it is where that metal area has been extra hardened to reduce breaks or cracks, thus causing the finish to be less able to adhere to the metal surface. Congrats on that very rare G-date Krieghoff.
That is a FIND, extraordinare!!! The workmanship is impeccable. The extractor fit to the breachblock is a hairline fit; same with ejector. Grips look excellent.
I love German historic firearms. The finest in the world. Well done... and what a great collector's piece.

Eighty years from now I wonder if collectors are going to be collecting these plastic pistols the companies are making now ?
Wow! Outstanding video and presentation.
Wow this is amazing congrats
Super interesting interview at the end.
An outstanding find and an exciting story. Thanks for sharing this historic Luger and how it made it's way to you. Best of luck with the sale!
What a fantastic find and a wonderful story. Come on Tom you're thinking about buying it ain't you
Great story...yay Wisconsin!!
That is one rare expensive piece of steel ! very cool video, thanks !
Wow! Nice find! Love the story behind the Luger! The guy telling the story is younger than I am but close in age. Hope to meet him one day!
Incredibly interesting.
That's a beaut. Bout 20 years ago at a gun show literally the first table as I walked in. Older fella had half dozen guns that he got from the daughter of a vet.2 lugers couple p38 s.couple ppk. He was selling all for 5 and 6 hundred dollars. Didn't have that much money on me noway and didn't really understand what I was looking at. So I made my way around the whole show .Maybe an hour, came back around and he had sold every single one. I don't normally dwell or worry myself to much about things I can't change. But I kick myself in the arse to this day ha... just let it go man..I ain't 🦧🥜
great video , again not a collector but I am the son of a ww2 vet who fought in the battle of the bulge and enjoyed the history
Great find. Congratulations. I imagine that one won’t be on the website anytime soon.
I can only imagine how you felt when you looked at that Pistol. What a rush!
Congrats on Your find! Krieghoff Lugers are my fav! Most do not know this but Krieghoff was the first and ONLY Company producing Lugers that had TOTAL parts interchangeability!

That's a very underrated piece of info. Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing story and I’d like to thank you for sharing this with us a true piece of history!!!
Number 1 also shows a somewhat lesser level of polish overall, which is something I would expect to see in a toolroom prototype that's just slightly prettied up for testing and proof of concept. I believe it's real.
I expect this to be the first officially shipped gun. Prototypes usually don't have serial numbers or different serial number patterns.
That was a great story, and the chap was a great story teller. Excellent, many thanks.
Thank you for your videos!!! Tom and Logan!!!
Having spent the last hour watching this I give it a high mark, fasanating and enlightening, thank you.
Wow!! What a great story!
A "Holy Grail" luger for sure. It just seems to be when someone captures a pistol, they don't seem to have the holster? I think if time permits, I'd grab that along with the belt.

A friend has a Mauser with holster and two matching mags. He purchased it a long time ago from a GI who took it off the dead body of a German officer in North Africa. The Germans had been pushed back miles leaving this officer still sitting in the vehicle that he died in and no doubt smelling fairly ripe. For some reason no other GI had relieved the German of his Luger. It’s luck of the draw.
Fascinating...well explained..thank you
Id like to feel that Krieghirth in my hands too
Wonderful story and vid and great things come from Wisconsin.
Love the history. Thank you
Great story
That is something else totaly mind boggeling and obveiously a massive high point in anyones life i feel a little humbled and very greatfull that you shared that very speshal gun with all of us thankyou so much just seeing it in yr vid is speshal and a high point for me ☺👍👍
Cool! I love the vintage ice pick pointer too!
Awesome find!!!!
the number on the barrel 883 or 8083 is suspicious as it does not appear to be stamped professionally or in the factory

Did you the "G" on the No 1 ? Absolute redicules.
Oh my gosh. What a story behind this Luger. 👍🏻👍🏻
All of the other Lugers, used to laugh and call him names. Rudolph the Krieghof Luger you'll go down in history.
What a great episode. That interview with the backstory was so interesting, especially to hear two knowledgeable Luger experts talking to each other with mutual respect.
OMG. A holy grail.
Fantastic find great video. Have you done or will you do any research from your end about when and how this Luger ended up where it was when captured? I'm not a very knowledgeable collecting but it seems to me a strange place to find a number one serial numbered gun. I personally would like to see more videos with people this interesting on how they got their guns
Amazing find! Just think what else is out there!
Completely entertaining to watch this. I can only imagine how exciting it was for everyone.
Thank you for Sharing this story. I also have had a passion for military history and collectibles from a young age , and my collection got Accidentally thrown out by my parents as I went out to discover the world. I haven't had the means nor finances to start again, but just you sharing these stories I can still indulge in the history of these weapons and the hands they went thru till today. You have no idea what a gift that is for me.
What are the odds (suspicious look) dont deny it...its evident that you have a time machine of some sort...me and the boys want a piece of that action.
I would be interested in the pistol at 70 if that’s of interest
A steal at $130K.
this is so interresting !
Wow, that was a great video. What a terrific find and explanation of all the events
great story. thanks
I could see them going to a more narrow G so it would result in a cleaner mark on the curved surface.
Tom I just loved that story. Thank you for sharing it with us. I'm sure there is a collector out there in a league far from me that will snap it up. Very cool thanks
This has to be the rarest luger in the entire world.

would it be as rare as the .45 cal designed for the US military?
Great story.
A prototype would be an unnumbered tool room example. That's early production.
Great video, interesting content and a wonderful interview! Nicely done!

16:56 Sorry, WHAT is a "telltale thumbprint" (if I understand correctly)?
Krieghoff number 1 is an amazing find. To have the first in the production run is completely rare. I would be interested in learning the price range it sells for. I am thinking well over $100,000 because it is Number 01.

Not back then, there wasn’t the internet and the ability to really hone in on collectors with pockets big enough to make it worth it. Something I noticed is the ancient grease behind the trigger guard on the teeny tiny serial that Tom showed but didn’t directly point out. That’s all the proof I needed to see that it’s real. All of those serial numbers would have to be done in the factory while the metal is still hot I believe. I hope he keeps us updated when it sells and what it’s worth.
Very, very cool!
I recently bought my first handgun, and its my dream gun, a Walther PP based on dating it appears to be from 62 buts that's all I could gather do you think you'll ever to a video on the post war PP's and PPK's? It would be a help for knowing where mine was made
Me again, Mr Krieghoff No10: On my Krieghoff on the right side of the receiver there is an L2 Testproof L2 mark, which is correct. The L2 L2 testproof makes me wonder.
20:33 Gallagher walks by in the back.
By the way remember Ralph Shattuck of Birmingham Michigan?
Probably similar to the feeling when I got my Taurus G2s.
I had the G #99, then I put it up for sale through LC. Why? We were moving to Germany at the time to retire. Had I known that my wife was going to change her mind and wanted to move back to the US, I would have kept it! All wasn't a total loss, I ended up acquiring German ace Emil Claude's combat watch, signed book "Glück gehabt," pictures and his all medals. He and his wingman probably changed history in the North Africa campaign. They shot down and killed the new commander of the 8th Army, British General Gott, who was the predecessor of Field Marshal Montgomery. After the war, Claude made friends with the pilot of General Gott's transport, Sgt. H.E. Jimmy James.
Grease is good!
His story reminds me of the scene in the movie “Battle Cry” where the GI throws away his war trophy Luger after hearing rumors of the SS blowing a prisoners head off with the Luger if they caught them with one. My dad was a Marine Raider in the Pacific and he said you left that stuff alone after a fight.
@gearjammergamer8560

The SS didn't take prisoners and we shot captured SS also. One of those dirty little secrets that doesn't get talked about. It was pretty much an unwritten rule to shoot SS on sight. ESPECIALLY after the Malmedy massacre when the SS machine gunned over 100 American POW's
Great Find Tom, What is stamped on the Bottom (opposite of proof mark) of the 01 Magazine? @09:53 looks like a backwards 1
Wow 😲
"Typically sell for 30-50k" doesn't sound like he really wants to sell if he is asking 100k
great history!!!!
It’s incredible how good condition it is in, it’s pretty much factory condition
The Bastone story reminds me of the Bastonge episode of Band of Brothers where Corporal Hoobler died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a captured trophy-Luger. Outstanding story
Willi Harold's fallschirmjäger unit was there
You just Never know what may be around the next corner !!..........................
I picked up a g code at the show, I was gonna show u but u left, it’s a Mauser tho
The machine work on the 01 seems a bit less refined.

Where do I get that screwdriver? Thx
it pisses me off I can no longer buy another hand gun ... I always wanted a Luger. a cheaper on though
How do you know that Luger was the FIRSTKreighoff??? I can't type fast so I'll shorten. A Cop friend was given several guns from a widow . One was a Colt 1903 n in. 32 acp serial #1 .My friend took it to an auction in N.H .IT was put on their auction brochure cover it was the main sale of the auction. The guy who originally procured the pistol worked for Colt. Now I wondered how come the Colt Co. Wasn't right there to get the first pistol model off the ass. Line? They were there to, get the first one off the line it was serial number-0- it's in the Colt museum! How do you actually know that Kreighoff didn't do the same ,maybe the actual first one isn't # -0- ????😅
@antoniusbuchwieser3163

Mr Krieghoff would have keept No 0 or No 1, so the story behind it does sound not right. An US soldier got it from a dead paratrooper in WWII ? Never ever !
Simson 2.0
The guy probably got it from the guy for like $2000

Finding that at a show where nobody wanted it is crazy. To buy it years later for what he said was the same price is mind-blowing. A double lightning strike is more likely
As an outsider, what would something like this be worth?
That's what she said 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
you tried to take out the wax/paint from the 'G' letter ? did the owner agreed to that ?
Tom. Great videos. Hope to be a customer one day. I was curious do you or other collectors normally shoot these weapons? Or does that decrease the value?
