@@joeleadbitter1564 after a long fight like that and after landing it on the rocks it is the sad reality that not all fish are going to make it. While it isn't ideal the fish did feed many according to other comments

@@awilderireland are you stupid mate? do you know how many years of effort go into landing just ONE marlin land based? get real. boat fishos are the one that cause 99 percent of the greif and then you give us blokes a hard time for trying to have some fun? reality of it is that even if it was possible to release that fish without it eating shit and dying on the rocks it wouldn't have survived anyways.
And release ? 👎👎👎👎

When I think of massive, parallels can be drawn between an ocean liner and a tugboat.
Catch and release is what we should be doing,always catch and release baby blacks.

@franksaunders6534

Not your call, mate. Contrary to what a lot of modern fishos think, a lot of released fish don't survive. We are just led to believe that myth. A lot of big fish give it their all and almost fight until their death. Sad as it may be for some, they are better off dispatched and turned into many quality meals. This is not overfishing, as one fish is kept and many, many hours have gone into that single capture.

@@franksaunders6534 this is probably one of the best comments I have read. As a fisherman it is always important to know whether a fish is going to release or not.

I hear what you’re saying, but the animal was (hopefull) harvested and will feed a lot of people for a considerable amount of time. It is also important to note the fact that the fish was exhausted to the point of near death, and likely would not have released. Also, as mentioned above, these guys aren’t the problem. The argument could be made that these fish shouldn’t be fished for, but the real dents made in their population come from commercial boats and draggers.
