Incredible 150 year old Packed Abandoned Doctors Farm House Up North in The Mountains

Ойын-сауық

This historical old farm house was built in the late 1800’s around 1870-1875 for a modestly wealthy French doctor. The house would serve as a doctor’s office on the first floor back in the day and a few upstairs rooms were boarding/ hotel rooms for travelers of the rough mountain area. The business operated until the early 1900’s when it was switched over too a private residence. It was lived in till around the 1980’s and since then has sat vacant sadly in a remote area. Was a very beautiful old house with tons of cool old details inside and lots of cool retro appliances and furniture. Really loved the setting of this house as well with Mountain View’s all around!! Glad to have been able too document this beautiful old house on video. Thanks for watching

Brief sketches and memories of my earliest childhood years here. Wish they could have lasted a little bit longer so that they were more of a permanent memory. Grew up listening to classical music on vinyl like Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Wagner, Mozart, etc. Grandparents had a player piano that played a lot of classical pieces.

That old fridge is from the 50s. I have very fond memories of ours when I was a child. The pink stove is also 50s. Those keyhole covers are called escutcheons. What a beautiful old house, and still solid enough that it's fixable, if someone has the funds and tenacity!

Judging from the beams in the basement and the solid roof still there. That house could be saved. It's framing is solid as heck so it could be reconfigured for modern taste. Close to the road, but so what, a lot of houses are. And that lot, trees, big yard. Kids would and probably have loved it there. Good video Kappy. Wow! What another cool find & explore this is! The kitchen was done in the 1950s judging by the sink, metal cabinets, pink gas stove, & refrigerator. The toilet in the bathroom upstairs is a 1950s Sears/Homart/ Universal-Rundle forward trap toilet. As for the toilets in the upstairs hall closet (or toilet room, not sure what it is or why there would be extra toilets stored there) , the look to be Briggs toilets from the 1970s or 1980s. Judging by the fact that the house has no radiators and the large original coal-fired furnace with duct work, this house had a coal-fired forced hot air heating system, which was later upgraded to a modern gas-fired forced hot air heating system by the addition of a modern gas furnace while still using the old duct work. The GE fridge in the basement easily dates back to the 1940s or 1950s. Interesting old house. I really enjoy your videos and how respectful you are.

Nice, tight old house in a beautiful setting. Added a lot to my Kappy wallpaper collection (I save the nice ones to a scrapbook of sorts on my computer). Thanks for the background history, it helps understand the layout better. Always look forward to Saturday morning to see what you've been up to!

What a great idea! Are you planning to recreate vintage wallpapers? I kinda wanted to screenshot that in the last/blue bedroom. Even the closet had amazing wallpaper! I learn so much from the comments in Kappy’s videos. What a great group of followers.

@@brendatomlinson I've thought about recreating the wallpapers, my daughters are both artistic and I'm a former drafter so who knows... I remember in the 60s when my mother would borrow wallpaper sample books from the paint store to see which one she wanted to order. Those books were so fascinating to me. Kappy's videos bring back such nice memories.

This was a great old house and still has good bones. Remarkable! Wish someone could bring this beauty back to life! Thank, Kappy. BTW, when you were going down into the cellar, I saw that old refrigerator and said "don't open it" at the same time you said "not going to open that one!"

If I had the money I would buy it, then set up a trailer or RV next to it (to live in) as I completely remolded that house. After I was done, move in. The views out those windows are excellent and refreshing.

The Kalvinator was from the 1950’s. The GE in the basement was from 1940’s - 1950’s. The pink stove was from the 1960’s..

Those are escutcheon covers or plates that are behind the door knobs. It's a shame the knobs were missing. That was a cool house Kappy. Thanks again for filming these old houses. I always look forward to your new videos. Wow, this must have had fairly rich owners. At 10:10 there was a wood corner molding. Snazzy! Add with it those fancy escutcheon plates and knobs...fancy. Even the on the outside of the windows have fancy trim around them.

This house reminded me of the old doctor's home/office we used to own. It's still occupied by the people we sold it to. The faceplates on the doors were beautiful. The 434 constellation was a hair dryer base. The fridge was from the 40's and the stove from the 50's I think. The house is still solid and could be fixed up and occupied if someone wanted it. It would certainly need insulation and possibly new electrical and plumbing installed and, of course windows. The closeness of the road is it's biggest hit against it in my opinion.

Awesome, Kappy! Love your video style, and you find the best places!! That old Kelvinator fridge would be late 40's or 50's. We had one very similar when I was a kid, folks got it in 1946 when Dad just got out of the Navy after World War II, and they had gotten a small 2-bedroom house for us to live in. Amazing finds, and love all the 'recaps' at the end of all the magnificent places you've shown us. Thank You !!!!

There's probably not much value left in the house itself but there's value inside of the house...the key hole covers, the kitchen refrigerator, the kitchen sink, the record player...

Cute little farm house. Love the wrap around porch. Its going to nature but I think a dedicated rehabber could buy and save this old house. A lot of great features and lots of bedrooms and mattresses..Farming is a dying trade now. I imagine A large family living here in its early years. Still cozy and charming even in its disrepair....Must have been Beautiful in its glory years...

Did you know you could cut off a piece of that wallpaper and take it into a home improvement store and pay to have it reproduced ?.I can't help but think about the family that no doubt has Long died off. kitchen Aid is what Sears used to call their appliances. My grandmother used to buy all her appliances at Sears. Thank you for the video Kappy stay safe.

Awesome find Kappy !! All of the furniture left behind was an extra treat to see. I have never seen a pink stove before. And the key covers were beautiful on the doors !! Ruby would definitely enjoy all of the different wallpaper as I did... The history on this house was interesting to read too !! I bet it was a busy place back in the day with it having a doctor's office. Thanks Kappy for bringing us on another explore with you. I always enjoy watching your vedios !! I feel like I am right there walking through and exploring with you...Take care and stay safe out there !! Tell Ruby we miss her on these vedios with you and tell her we said Hi👋. See ya on the next one !!

It's very interesting that a lot of the furniture is left, but it wasn't left in place and has been damaged. There are a couple of pieces in there I would love to have. The water table in the kitchen and the matching utility cabinet would be wonderful to have. My family always used a water table. That's where we put our buckets of water to drink and cook with when we didn't have running water. The end tables in the living room are from the early 60s. I actually had the same style of wardrobe at one time that was in one of the bedrooms.

Love the pink stove!! I’m guessing that fridge is more 50’s. And I bet it still works. Unlike the junk today-hardly lasts 6 months past it’s warranty. Love that kitchen. The box that was laying there was definitely from the 50’s.
