Increased Japanese military presence on small island of Ishigaki frustrating locals

The U.S. is counting on Japan to help counter China's spread of influence. Japan's increasing military presence on their island of Ishigaki is upsetting locals. If China attacks Taiwan and the U.S. steps in, Japan could end up in the fight, putting Ishigaki on the front line.

At some point the quiet is just an illusion waiting to be shattered by those who would seek to enslave, dehumanize, and exploit you, your family, and your community. so a lot of the people who are dismissing the islanders complaints need to realize that many of the surrounding of japan are not enthnically yamato (the primary ethnicity of japan). a number of them were conquered by japan (re: okinawa and hokkaido) infact okinawans have a long history of suffering under japanese rule and subsequently they were one of the first regions that were forced to host a Us military base post WWII defeat. ishigaki is in the okinawa prefecture and likely shares many sentiments with main okinawan island, especially seeing how japanese militarization has gone for them in the past. Please concider other peoples history before judging. many of you need to realize that not everyone share the american/western ally perspective that china is the only aggressor in the region, especially concidering how so much of the region used to be colonized by european or japanese imperialists.

I am in Hiroshima now. I visited the atomic bomb dome and hypocenter memorial. I saw the pictures of mutilated children and families at the peace museum. Dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was an act of immense cruelty and hubris by the americans. Apparently, the lessons of history are not recent enough for the leaders of increasingly hawkish leaders in China, N. Korea, Russia, and Israel. Where would you go to escape WW3…?
