Inclusive Ballet Studio Teaches Dancers With Special Needs

In the Arts Studio Academy ballet school, students of all abilities dance together. The teachers there have a mission: to make ballet inclusive to children with and without special needs. The owner of the studio says in the two years they have run inclusive classes, their dancers have “excelled and reached very high levels.” She believes integrating girls with disabilities into classes with other girls who are training to be ballerinas is beneficial for all her young dancers.

In high school, I was in choir. We had a student with special needs and he learned all the songs, sang at concerts with us… and he was great! Such a sweet experience. He was very smart and talented.

That’s bad ass that a woman who teaches that class includes others without disabilities so that they can feel like the girls that don’t have any disabilities at all. She needs to get an award for that bc she deserves it! YOU GO LADY! WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE HER!

This is great! At my daughters dance studio there is younger girl who had a stroke while her mom was pregnant with her. She’s in a class with her peers regardless of her ability. She’s treated just the same. I love that she’s included so much!

I have autsim and dancing really helped me develop my coordination and balance in middle and high school so I could be stronger and better at daily activities. My fine motor skills got better, too, and they had been really bad before so it was a relief to finally be able to write in school. Dance is amazing for motor development and it is so fun! Im so happy these kids get to do it too.

🧏🧏🧏 So long as that special need person does not physically harm the other students or teachers. It's okay. 👍 👌 The last report was about a special need student who assaulted a teacher cause she took away his game device, that's NOT okay. If the student shows signs of feral behavior, he or she is supposed to be separated from other students and teachers. Let someone who specialize in there case handle them. . .

The term "special needs" is generally considered outdated and offensive. You could change the title to use "people with disabilities" or "the disabled community" instead
