In this video, traditional boatbuilder Ben Harris, and his team, are working on a 34-foot gaff cutter yacht called CONSTANCE. They started this new-build commission for their client in the autumn of 2019; photographer Emily Harris checks out their progress, observing various jobs going on at Ben's workshop, within 'Gweek Classic Boatyard', just outside Falmouth in Cornwall.
- Ben shapes up some spar fittings, later to be fitted to the mast and spars he has made.
- James fits the companionway steps also made by Ben, making it easier to access the interior onboard CONSTANCE, as she is fitted out.
- Pete fits her skylight which is made from reclaimed teak, once part of the deck of a cruise liner.
The lines for CONSTANCE were developed by Ben, in collaboration with naval architect Jack Gifford and were inspired by a Falmouth quay punt called CURLEW. For more information on CONSTANCE please visit Ben Harris & Co's website: www.benharrisboats.co.uk/
Ben Harris & Co Wooden Boats use traditional boatbuilding techniques to build (new) sailing yachts and traditional boats, restore motor and sailing yachts including building/restoring smaller craft - dingies and yacht tenders - as well as making masts and spars in their workshops.

Hello from California. You just popped up on the radar. I've been watching Leo at Sampson boat, and I believe he has been to Gweek on of his episodes. Do you know one another? Appreciate and admire you and your associates skills. Been to Cornwall many times years ago, mainly around Looe, Pelynt, Fowey, etc. At the time was more interested in art and golf. I miss the landscape and England. Be glad to visit once more. Cheers, Brian

Hi Ben is there any good books, with simple diagrams, you can recommend for boat building, for a novice.
in beginning of video the bandsaw guides are not adjusted properly they will wreck the blade like that, other then that great vid thank you
