I was worried about leaving my 150$ classical guitar laying flat on the top of my closet because of the effect of the gravity on the neck. Now that I´ve seen a 1950´s strat being pulled from a pile of guitars on the floor I am no longer worried. THANK YOU MR MALMSTEEN!!!

F'in hilarious. First of 10 strats, "Band bump boom". Not a piece of art, but the 54 is a piece of history. At least he didn't mod it. All My guitars got dings.dirt scratches and all. Literally got my 2017 YJM, got hammered and feel into a book shelf holding the guitar. Plastic isn't even off the fret board yet. Of course, for YM a neck change is an easy thing. I'm sure a lot of the necks have been replaced on the touring ones. I still have my second guitar. Ibanez RG550 from 1990. Worn frets, grunk on the fret board, major nicks out of the body, few stripped screws. Battle scars.

***** If I had that many guitars I'd have a large room specifically for keeping guitars in. Wall brackets come in so handy, and I'd have them in different rooms of the house too. Besides, why the hell does he need or even want so many of the same guitar? Like literally 90% of those guitars are exactly the same and probably feel and sound the same. I never did understand Yngwie's infactuation with vanilla coloured strats...or whatever grotesque colour that is.

Often his humor is mistaken with arrogance..... he's not arrogant, he's Yngwie J Malmsteen, the creator of neoclassical movement, let's all think about that for a minute. Yngwie changed the way of playing Guitar for many, if not for all after him...just like EVH or Jimi Hendrix. He is a piece in the pyramid of music, and a musical genius. By the way, if some time he's little cocky, he earned that right. Is YJM for God sake!!!!!

He has a healthy irreverence towards them-I think so many of us get hung up on the details of vintage and relics these days, always searching for a an ideal and lose the whole point of what guitars are all about- looking mean and making noise- what ever guitar you use!

I suppose for him the guitars are just a functional tool to get a job done. Do you really worry about every scratch and ding you get on a favourite chisel? No, it just gets thrown in the draw of your workbench until you need it next time, regardless of whether it is new or 40 years old. It's solely in the eyes of the individual if they place an emphasis on old items or turn something into an object of wonder and awe, whether that's the owner or not.

He still sounds like a Ferrari engine on guitar. I had the honors of constantly changing guitar strings on the first three albums or so in his home studio. Heeheeheeheeheeho Wipe Out! The song was a hit in 1946 for Jan August, an American pianist and "EviL" xylophonist nicknamed "the one-man piano duet". It gained worldwide popularity through Dick Dale's 1962 American surf rock version, originally titled "Miserlou/Egyptian Girl. My father was a member of The Ventures for a while as a guitarist and worked for Western Electric, and Liberty Studios and knew Jimi Page,Elvis,The Beatles , The Marines Beach Boys and The Chipmunks. To everyone that is so obsessed with how he treats his guitars on this video: You need to wake up and realize those are all his guitars. He can afford to do whatever he damn well pleases with them and certainly doesn't need any random jackasses stamp of approval on how to treat them. The man has pioneered this style of guitar playing for going on 40 years. He gets free guitars whenever he wants,he'll be okay. You don't need to worry yourselves about how he treats his guitar collection. Instead of that pointless activity, why not attempt to aim your "concern" towards the idea that if you bust your ass for the rest of your life, maybe you will luck out and get to be half as good as he is now.- Good luck with that...

+Carvin5150CFH he is a total bell end - I took great pleasure seeing him throw his toys out his pram in 2000 when Guthrie Govan made him look like a total jerk after he had shredded load of kids off the stage while supposedly doing a workshop, he had no idea who guthrie was and treated him the same until he got his ass handed to him and stormed off stage in a strop, He is a clown, a very fast widdly clown with no soul. He is the pioneer of being a total dick and is definitely the worlds best at that. very fast though, soulless, tuneless, but very very fast

You're too hung up on his demeanor when he's not playing the guitar.I'm talking about his guitar work, the fact that he started that particular style of guitar playing in general, mastered it and people either love it or hate it. But I ask how can you hate it when its something nobody was doing before him to the extent in the way that he does it.As for Guthrie Govan, he is obviously a great player, but Malmsteen has been doing his thing since before Guthrie was born. You really think Malmsteen has no feeling to his play, that's ridiculous. For example listen to a song he did called"Spasebo Blues."-No feeling my ass. Watch his video "Rising Force live '85". That's when people either start hating him because they can't play it or they recognize true talent and they know he's a great player, it's just that simple. You must have been somewhat interested in him because you would have never read my post or watched video to begin with if you hated him so much.

I don't see why he is an ''egotistical piece of shit'' for keeping his guitars on the floor. What's next hating him for wearing his Rolex instead of keeping it in a displaycase? Yngwie uses his guitars with the purpose they were made for which is too play on. All the hate is just envy really, from collectors who dream about a guitar like that but can't afford it. Too him it's just a guitar (and that's really all it should be). Yngwie is a guitarhero to me, but he is a human too who wakes up get his coffee like everybody else. It's us that make people or objects bigger than they really are and I think it's very hypocritical to hate someone for having something valueable and not treating it the way you would. We're all different and in the end of the day they're his guitars, he can do whatever he wants with them. It's not like he's smashing them in his parking lot is he? And to all those haters.. I bet half of you wouldn't have the balls to say something like that to him in person.

+Iggy Tubmen: First thing,it's his guitar. All those guitars are. He has no obligation to anybody for what he does with them. The same would apply to you, me, and everybody else. Also, unless you live on the moon, you should be smart enough to know that he does much more than just"shred". Listen to"Rising Force"(it's over 30 years old by the way) tell me he's just a one trick pony after you hear it all the way through. If everybody can do it then that means you should be able to aswell right? By your logic anyways. Good luck with that. He's much more diverse than that. Nylon string classical, acoustic, bass, and he seems to be pretty well versed at electric but I don't know if you realize that which leaves a lot to be said about your judgment. If anybody can play fast and shred Paganini, you should be able to match him then right? You'll need a lot more than the ability to play fast to pull that off. By saying he has"zero musical ability" you automatically qualify yourself for not knowing anything about how he plays or what he's about. Name something, I bet he can play it and do a better job then 99% of people plus he would be incorporating his own style into it which just makes it that much more remarkable. Typical that someone would give him credit only for being a fat shit as you put it, yet you conveniently forget he would outplay you or anyone you call your favorite. Not to forget he's been doing it likely since before you were born. But none of that is worth anything right? If you think he's just a speed player then that means you don't get what he's doing because it's too much for you to handle and is simply over your head.Outplay him and I'll take back everything I wrote. That should be interesting(much like a train wreck)You shouldn't paint yourself in a corner like that. It kind of helps to throw your credibility out the window.

You've gotta respect how genuine Yngwie is, just all-Malmsteen all-the-time, with no self-awareness whatsoever. Not so good if you happen to be a vintage Stratocaster, or an alcoholic beverage of any sort, but great if you like searing leads. Awesome, thanks for posting.

Strats are pick up trucks and should be treated as such. The only reason these assembly line guitars are worth a lot of money is because of people conned into thinking old guitars are special. It is the most copied guitar on Earth. He is just treating them the same way Leo Fender did. Nostalgia is boring and expensive. The notes are the only thing with value.

TheNeverendingGory just a little thought tho.... the older is the guitar the older is the wood that it's made from, the older the wood the brighter is the sound... perhaps a little truth on older guitar sounding better it true... still some time are way expensive but giving the fact that to have a high end guitar the wood needs to name from the centre of the tree.. not at the bottom or top cos its to dry or wet.... there is a loot to take in consideration when buying the guitar... shape and colour are the last factors... :) x

Let's see you play that "egotistical douchebags" guitar work. Good luck with that, and you know what,he's earned the right to act however he wants and do what he wants with his own guitars. Those are HIS guitars therefore,he has no one to answer to. I think it would be comical at the least to think that he would care what anybody on KZread says he needs to do with his guitars and not just leave them scattered around. That's ridiculous .Get over yourselves. ALOT of you people are missing the point. Its not a popularity contest or a personality parade or anything of the sort. Fuck that stupid trendy bullshit. I thought PanterA put that to rest with "The Great Southern Trendkill" album but anyways. It's Malmsteen's pioneering guitar ability and the fact that he's playing like this since before 90% of you reading this right now had been born.
