In the Peak District in Storm Katherine

We had a weekend in the middle of storm Katherine, visited Bakewell, got stuck in the mud and decided to abandon our trip due to the bad conditions.

Was lovely to see you all back together, and in the Eriba which i thought you had sold. My favourite bit is the cooking with Will as ive said many times before. But i got to say how you are all so slim/normal body type with them portion sizes beats me! I love my food but i could not eat them platefuls! Anyway was great to see you all again and look forward to seeing you again maybe later in the summer! Best wishes!

Hi Michael, we decided not to sell and the tipping point was the availability of more affordable and closer storage. On portion sizes, we eat very little during the daytime so what you see is like dog style feeding :) We will be doing more videos during the summer but some may be camping, which we have a new set up and looking forward to showing it to you all.

Well done. You made the best of a bad situation. We used to have an Eriba and they are heavier than they look. You were let down by the campsite in my opinion. They know how wet it can get and yet they let people sink. We switched to a van and wild camped after similar experiences 👍

Yes, the site could have helped a bit more, however we should have not booked grass either. I understand what you mean about the Van, as we have invested in an Air Tent, which fits around the Landcruiser, so actually we will be sleeping in that when there's just two of us. Thats our nearest thing to van life but on sites and only investing a bit more for the tailgate tent. We will be using that beginning of June at the Re-Kindle Festival in Lincs.

Very interesting regarding mixing using the Eriba and tent camping.I always think of using my Eriba as "camping" but I would like to alternate it like you guys.My wife is not keen though! We are trying to pick out good CLs with at least one shower and rejoined CAMC just for that. Your Eriba videos are great, always interesting and a bit "quirky" ( never knew acountants could be quirky Gary....) Really glad you are keeping the Eriba.Campervans are overpriced, even more so than caravans.

  • @whereveraway

Hi Hayden, we are thinking use the Eriba for 2 or more nights over and the Tailgate Tent for single nights away. We don't do things for the camera, instead we do what we are doing with or without the camera and film as we go, which makes for more varied content. Van Life is a lower quality existence than Eriba life.

  • @whereveraway

    2 ай бұрын

Yes I agree regarding proper sites for the caravan. A lot of the sites are over charging now. That site was £30 per night and was not worth the money in any weather, even on a hard standing. For one night tent camping it doesn't matter as much in good weather, as grass and a toilet will do and is much cheaper. We will be doing the camping this year and are set up for that too. On PitchUp there are a lot of the Mickey Mouse sites which are over charging.

  • @whereveraway

    2 ай бұрын

Hi Jane, following getting bogged down before Christmas, we decided to reverse to test how difficult it was to move over the grass. The wheels on the Landcruiser started to spin, so we decided to drive forward again. You can see on the video that the final position of the Eriba is forward of the original tyre tracks. It would have been too risky to just drive on forwards in the hope that we could turn it around and keep traction. I'm still not confident that would have been possible. The grass is on limestone so it does drain very quickly, unlike the other video, where the grass was over clay.

looks like your storage yard is a shitty mess like ours. I have to take two pairs of shoes so I don't have to get into my van or car with filthy shoes from dirt and mud picked up from the storage yard. I wish our drive, although a double one, was a bit longer, to get our 7.5 metre caravan on, although we can get our campervan on. Our storage yard is £470 per year.

Our conditions were a little different as in really boggy with no solid ground whatsoever and we lost traction reversing in rather than driving forward. The front to rear diff lock makes all the difference. Oh the weather where you are is great. Bringing back memories of living in Australia for a while as a Child in NSW.
