I just played this progression into a looper and spent 3 hours practicing soloing with feel instead of speed. Most fun I’ve had playing guitar in a really long time.

Thanks for keeping the "mistakes" in there. When you made one you said : " geez, really inspiring." Actually, yes it is. When I see someone who has been playing for a long time still make mistakes it makes me feel better and actually motivates me. Unedited stuff is great. Keep it in. Thanks again for all you do.

I feel the same! I love when an artist makes a mistake and just rolls w it ... adds an element to music. Music isn’t ever perfect to me, when it is it feels boring

Snowy White did a stint as a member of Thin Lizzy. I think his smooth style never really meshed with Lizzy's Irish rock metal

I love this song, it is one of those songs that gets inside and touches the soul. First heard it about 6 months after starting to play guitar. I tried to play it, but it was way above my head (even bought a looper). It's a year later and your video has inspired me to give it another shot, although I'm not sure I have the chops yet. The day I'm able to play this song will be a huge milestone for me as a guitar player. Thank you for doing the video.

As always, a great lesson that provides insight on how to bring ideas into your own playing. Even though there are only 5 notes in the pentatonic, I'm always interested in hearing and seeing how guitar Gods use those notes. I rate this lesson a 5 out of 5: PERFECT FIFTH

The feeling is great - for theory buffs just play the Am6 arpeggio horizontally along the neck, you'll instantly get the notes jumping at ya, then just go semitone above and below those notes - wallah you're in Slabo land for the day, and then use ya ears to grab the other kind of eastern/arabic notes notes hanging around the arpeggio. But the feel on this is fantastic, thanks Stich.

Just stumbled on to this, Stitch, great, great stuff. I always come back to your channel, so much to learn. Stitch another great Peter Green (with John Mayall) you might enjoy is an instrumental in C called "Greeny"...jazzy, bluesy, fun. Robbie in Colorado

Mr Stich I started watching Stich Method around late 2017 early 2018 to present Started a trio not doing much yet but this is on of the songs on the list which i also picked from Stich Method when I first saw the vedio with the percussionist and the rythm and Snowy white then your lesson came up and I had to give it a go I have listen to covers where the guitar is doing to much iv done it to much it is a great cover if you Go by the Stich Method and diffently sound pro ...wow factor 100%....RocknRollFlat5

So many peoples dumped on the Chinatown album. It is a killer album and Snowy did a great on the two Lizzy albums he played on. It is like Jake E Lee for Ozzy. People love to discuss Rhandy vs Zakk as if Jake never existed.

I like to pick 3 or 4 notes out of the scale and work with the groove , try call and response to see what phrases I can come up with

I remember when "In the skies" came out. ITV in the U.K. actually played a few tracks from it as their shutdown music. This was before 24/7 T.V.

Hey Stephen, can’t be G because there is no F Major in the Key of G. So it is the Key of C, which then answers that it is the A minor scale (relative minor of C) that will work. The A Dorian which is related to the key of G has an F# in it and will clash a lot with some moments. Hope that helped.

Late to the party as I just discovered Snowy White. This song is epic along with Midnight Blues. Both are master classes on the pentatonic scale. I highly recommend guitarists checking out the KZread video of him playing Midnight Blues live. Watch him working the Em pentatonic scale hard especially the first box shape at the twelfth fret. Pure inspiration for players that are learning.

Interestingly, the technique you mention in the 4th position was also quite commonly used by Peter Green. He commonly used a 1-2-4 1-2-4 pattern on the B and E strings in the 4th position instead of the Pentatonic's 2-4 1-4 shape. You don't really hear him use that phrasing outside that position. I actually heard this position called "The Green Scale" as well.

I saw Snowy White play with Pink Floyd at Soldier Field Chicago for the Animals tour.

Awesome lesson. Have you heard the the track Apostle from Peter green's in the skies? I believe snowy plays on this as well. The lead part on it sounds amazing, especially the part that sounds like a mexican horn solo. Check it out!!!!!!!

Similar sound to versions of All Along the Watch Tower

I have a book of Peter Green tabs called Instant Peter Green. I don't use it and would like to pass it on.

If Snowy is not starting with the A root note of A minor pentatonic to create tension does that mean he is playing another mode of C Major?

What type of F chord is he playing? Or is he just muting the 5th and 6th with ring finger and thumb respectively. And is he barring the 1&2 strings on the first fret? Also, he runs through 14 notes in his chord progression but I can't tell where the measure begins or ends. Would be a bit helpful if the chord progression with measure was written on the screen.....especially considering all the other Slabo Day chord progressions I've seen look very different. Sorry, don't mean to sound so negative. It's a great, in depth tutorial. I've learned a lot from his other tutorials but just got lost at the beginning with the chord progression.

Actually F/C, no ? BTW, the version of "A Fool No More" on In The Skies might be a worthwhile tune to explore, as it's a blues, but applies this same "sultry" approach, which makes it highly melodic.

A burning question: I've recently learned the pentatonic forms via CAGED shapes, where it made so much more sense (to me). The standard"Form 1" is the 'G' shape. Why is it ONE? Shouldn't the C shape be ONE? When you talk about using a 'bit of forms 2 and 3', I have to "translate" and think A and D forms. Life is hard....

And I suppose my follow-up question is why don't more teachers use CAGED? I get we all learn differently...for me, connecting the forms to CAGED really clicked with me - one of those "aha - look at all the pretty light bulbs!" moments

I use caged all the time BUT you can address scale shapes outside of CAGED when only talking about pentatonics. Pentatonics are used in non Caged applications because of the scale intervals. The form 1 I address is a minor Pentatonic that does not have the same root as the G shape. Now yes they go together but not when talking about just scales and their application over a steady jam... hope that kinda made sense. Even thought I LOVE Caged, there is a time and place. Not unless I’m thinking G shaped chord am I thinking G shaped pentatonic.

@@StichMethodGuitar Thank you for your quick response. I'll take some time to absorb your answer - you are clearly on a different plane of understanding than me! I'm a newbie, and all I know is that, for me, I was able to go from tying a root note (on the 6th string) to a shape, to picking a random root anywhere on the fretboard and playing all the forms in that four - fret space. Anyway, THANK YOU - for your time, and tutelage. You are one of the best!
