I’m just upset that it took an Usher Tiny desk performance for people to acknowledge that he has actual classic that hit different. Also crazy that it took that performance for some to understand that Usher’s voice is top tier. Bless anyone’s heart who isn’t aware of his greatness.

Usher is just a more senior artist with more experience and being birthed into the 90s era which was less digital so he built his stock on being a live performer and vocalist. Chris is a generational talent that is an excellent performer as well but he's more new school digital era where live raw vocals aren't quite as paramount to his brand. Last December, I also attended Usher's concert/residency in Vegas. He definitely still has it. "Real Bad" LOL Iykyn. Usher is the Goat, even though Chris has some bangers too! Usher has the ability to play Nice and Slow and effectively end the situation. The "it's 7 o'clock on the dot..." verse marks the end of this debate. And OMG! Bedtime is still my jam almost 20yrs later! There's timeless joints in Ushers catalog that I'm not sure Chris has. He has bangers but I don't think he has the timeless music that Usher has. Usher has that music that's kind of comparable to MJ's. There's always going to be a song that when it comes on 40-50yrs after it's initial release you just vibe to. There isn't a Chris Brown song that takes me down memory lane or speaks to my life. Confessions spoke to my whole life at certain point and I think so many other men.

10/10 great points, literally changed my view. Ur damn right, usher has the timeless sentimental hits. If case had the catalogue, I'd put him more in the lane of ush. Even tyrese can't be in usher's lane, there's a level of vulnerability AND vocal range that combined puts usher's influence on grown folks rnb and the respectability of slow jamz next to Jodeci, Keith sweat, isley brothers, he who shall not be named cuz he's serving 30, and even oldheads Luther vandross. Listen, imma say it, usher and Toni Braxton for verzuz. Tell me that don't make sense. i'm 27. I love both artists. Confessions was actually the first CD I had for my CD player I got for one Christmas. (Crazy to think we were really carrying around those big ass things lol) I personally still like Chris Brown better. He has a wide range of types of R&B songs. I think the problem is he has so much it would be tough picking the right ones. And that is why I think Usher would win. Everyone pretty much knows what Usher should play which is pretty much anything from 8701 or Confessions. I feel like Chris has way too much music and too many different sounds that he could easily pick the wrong ones and lose. Personally I feel like if he picked his deep R&B songs (Chris has a deep bag of them) instead of dance hits he could win. Both are supreme vocalists and performers. I think people sleeping on Chirs' voice because he doesn't really use it as much outside of the studio other than his concerts and even then he's usually dancing his ass off while singing so it's not like he is sitting comfortably doing it. Anyways, I feel like Usher would have an easier win but if Chris chooses correctly he could win. Both my favorites tho

It actually marked the end of an era of Great R&B music. Prime Usher was singing live for the entire show on tour while doing a ton of choreography. There was no backing vocals. If he wasn't singing, all you heard was his band or the beat playing. That mic was always on. Vocally, in the studio or live, Usher is a different animal. He's even better now as a vocalist because as he's gotten older, he doesn't dance as much. His voice sounds better than it ever has. That's what taking care of yourself does. Not smoking cigarettes or anything else. As for Chris, when the only people who think you've released a classic album are your hardcore fans who like everything you do, that says everything. There are people who aren't huge Usher fans who will tell you that both 8701 and Confessions are classic albums and My Way is pretty close. Chris has released a ton of good music, but not one album can be put on the same level as 8701 or Confessions. There are deep album cuts from both of those records that would take CB out. Usher could just play his ballads and go home early. Not one CB ballad is anywhere near as good as U Got it Bad, Nice and Slow or Burn.

The main thing that separates usher music and Chris is ushers joints is more timeless, they travel across all generations backwards and forward. Chris has records for each generation he’s been around but those records are kinda stuck with that generation they came out in. Adaptation hurt Chris if you ask me, he shoulda kept it r&b throughout his whole career, but he a grown man he has the right to move how he pleases

Difference is CB could do 3 different verzuz and never play the same song twice but Usher’s 20 just hits you on a another level. Both are great but they’re different.
