    I think this script and setup is dope. Ppl that are broke can spend 15 bucks a month and get some of the best software mastering chains in the game. And I like how easy it is to use universal controls for ballpark and then lock in with each plugin. Only request I had would to be able to sub in some different combinations on the order with the flow. I own all the softube stuff so not paying 15 but I appreciate how ppl can get quality for that.

    I really like what’s Softube doing, I got the older console 1 for years ago man sounds great especially SSL 9k and API Now it works with UAD and fab filter can stay away from the touchpad. I hear what your saying about the long payoff to own but a year of mastering with an arsenal plug-ins on this would be same price of 1 good plugin if you bought it.

    You guys just keep getting better, and funnier (looking). Love the stories. Softube is da bomb, and I love their Bus Processor and Tape. I don’t ’get’ this, but I have spent a lot of time building my mastering chain, so yeah. But the quality is unimpeachable.

    The Softube Flow is for beginners, but the plugins can be used independently, which means you can build your own mastering chain. and you can build a mastering chain with Softube plugins and plugins by other companies. Have you guys reviewed the STL Tones ControlHub? It's basically the same thing with mixing and mastering chains by well-known engineers, and it has Tracer (captures hardware like a Kemper), but the plugins can't be used independently

    I like Flow -- and appreciate what you're saying about the subscription creep. - I suppose that's Softube's way of trying to hook folks. Owning many of the included Flow plugins already, I appreciate being able to use Flow with those perpetual plugins, at no additional cost (nor subscription). And not supporting other plugins inside of Flow... there are other mix bus insert slots that can be used. If you don't own the perpetual licenses to the plugins you want in Flow, then it becomes a decision on whether the subscription is worth it. In that situation, I'm more aligned with your perspective. However, as a owner of some/all of Flow's included plugins, I don't think it's "shit."

    To be fair, this is more rent to own than a subscription! Once you own all the plugins you no longer need to pay for the Flow service! So if you only use one flow and happen to own all the plugins, you don't ever need to pay. Or once you own all the plugins used in the collection you can cancel and still keep using the Flow plugin. Hope that made sense! In other words, you don't need to continue the subscription to keep using the Flow plugin. Once you own all the plugins or the plugins in the Flows you want to use, you can cancel and continue to use the Flow plugin at no charge.

    @@StudioLife101 That depends on how many Softube plugs you already own but yes, if you own none, that is correct. You can however pick the plugins up when they are on sale on the website. You don't have to purchase the plugins you don't own already with credits. I'd rather have this then a full-on subscription any day. At least my money is going somewhere every month! The Softube plugins are good but I am seeing the company going for an ecosystem for some time. It’s a choice they make but for me a big reason the stay the heck out of it. I don’t want to get stuck in an ecosystem and I would not recommend anyone to use a subscription model.

    I agree it is shit but....... I already own a lot of these plugins and similar. Its well worth a download on the 14 day trial to get a good feel of what is possible. Then cancel. Its stupid that they could do this for free and give other options. I suspect this will flop like UAD spark, then bring the cost of the plugins right down!

    Absolute clownlike behavior from ST. Why in God's name anyone would choose a subscription "sErViCe" over owning their own plugins outright is completely beyond me.

  • @matt_nyc_audioengineer

    @matt_nyc_audioengineer

    13 күн бұрын

    It's not a subscription. It's rent to own. Once you own all the plugins you can continue to use Flow at no charge. That includes if you only use one or two Flows and own those plugins. If that's the case then Flow is completely free to use. Also, as a professional engineer subscription models make perfect sense however, at that point, the plugins pay for themselves. I have many subs but I also earn my income using those plugins so it makes sense for someone like me. For the average "hobbyist" tho, I agree. Subs make no sense.
