'In the beginning NO Superbike teams wanted to take a CHANCE on me' - DANNY KENT

Спорт

The Moto3 World Champion and McAMS Racing British Superbike rider joins us at Oulton Park. We chat about his last years of GP racing after winning that world title and how he had to roll the dice in STK1000 to prove himself as a big bike rider before BSB teams would even take him on. Now he's aboard the Yamaha R1, a machine that suits his style and has the pedigree to challenge for wins across the 2024 season, Danny is ready to prove himself a contender in the world's most competitive domestic championship!

Danny suffered from the eternal racers conundrum... can't get a ride without experience, can't get the experience without a ride.. glad to see he has fought through the tough times and is coming through into the sunlight again.. He is showing his class so far this year, hope he keeps pushing, he will have that BSB win soon enough..

Perfectly put, so to go down the STK1000 route was a brave decision for a former World Champion. He’s a very different fella to five years ago and one who deserves every success 🙂

Just "liked" and noted the previous likes amounted to 52. How appropriate. Good to see Danny on a Yamaha and whilst Ryan is my rider, I fully appreciate Danny's style and to be fair, he comes across really well and despite making an awful personal choice when younger, I've always found him approachable and an otherwise, credit to himself.

Go Danny ........World champ Danny didn't gel with Moto2 , but remember Fabio Quatararo won six Spanish junior titles but was lacklustre in Moto3 and Moto2 before finding his true potential in MotoGP. As with Danny I'm sure Jake Dixon would fare better on a big bike too.

Danny at his age now, may find it hard to claw his way back to worldsbk (let alone MotoGP). But Leon Haslam won his first BSB crown at the age of 35 (and propelled him back to worldsbk) and Shane Byrne won his last of his 6 crown at the of 41. So there's still many chance for Danny to become one of the BSB legends.

I think Danny will be the first to admit that he won't return to the MotoGP paddock and the difficulty we'll find over the next few seasons is that WorldSBK continue looking to MotoGP/Moto2/Moto3 to fill their rides rather than domestic championships. Agreed, he has plenty of opportunity in BSB over the next few years and will rack up race wins before long, of that I'm certain.

4:03 I presume Danny was talking about Riccardo Rossi because Gresini had Gabby Rodrigo who was Argentinian and Rossi is Italian. If it had gone through knowing what we knew from Moto3 in 2019 he would've been close to Dalla Porta given that the Honda had a clear edge on the KTM in terms of performance. The defining moment of this point was Motegi when Canet crashed out and there was a shot of him the pits making frenetic gestures about being totally murdered by the Honda's when it came to straight line speed and punch off the corners which forced him to take risks under braking where the KTM was strong that season. To confirm the point of the top 5 in points that season Dalla Porta, Canet, Ramirez, Arbolino and McPhee only Canet was KTM mounted for Sterilgarda Max Racing rest were all Honda's
