JAMES WHITHAM talks, and we LISTEN once again!

Спорт

This week we return to the scene of one of our most popular shows of the last 12 months (until Shakey and Glenn came along and took top spot off him) we’re back up at Huddersfield International Airport with the ever-popular James Whitham and his faithful Head of Security and Vermin Control, Captain Sprouticus the Jack Russell. In this episode we look back at the ’23 BSB season and ahead to WorldSBK and BSB for ’24 along with a couple of left field questions that we didn’t get to do last year because we hadn’t thought of them at that point!

Fan bloody tastic , I also raced 125s in the early 80s had no clue what I was doing but great times with big grids, a mini 850 with a bike trailer and a two man ridge tent, then off to Cadwell in the snow, not many would have that commitment now, money is now the big factor and being honest I don't see that that sort of pure dedication anymore, possibly this was our adrenalin fix, no internet, no mobiles, lets go racing while also having fantastic fun.

There’s a lot to be said for that way of racing, no question. Time doesn’t stand still and it’s a very different paddock today as I’m sure you know. Isn’t right? That’s up for debate; is it better? In some ways yes but in so many ways…. No.

@@OffTrack_PodcastThat would be great. 😊 I remember him having some cracking battles in the 90's in World Supersport before his time in World Superbikes. Time can make memories alter but I'm sure him and four/five others seemed to be battling it out every round one season. Was it the Belgada Yamaha, that could be totally wrong but I think it was something like that.

@@OffTrack_PodcastYES! JH flies under the radar but what a lovely bloke. It's been cool seeing him evolve in his broadcasting career to what we see and hear today. I always judge these things on "would I miss him/her if they weren't there" and the BSB team has no fat if that makes sense. James H would leave a noticeable gap. And what a rider. B*lls like spacehoppers lol. Serious question though Dave. Do you know if these guys are aware of how loved and respected they actually are?

They won’t deviate from that and it’s going to bite them, especially TNT - there’s potentially 3 or 5 years until we could see a Brit in MotoGP on top of the four seasons we’ve already had if Jake doesn’t get a shot… on the flip side we have three in the top ten in F1.
