I love how Claudia managed to turn this into a mutual interview.

Claudia is such a cool, charismatic, interesting, and likeable person. This interview was so fun to watch, and I can’t wait for Part 2!

I don't think I've ever been so gutted about one of these finishing before. The chemistry between you two is electric! I smell a podcast in the making!

Came across this again today - 2022 - and watched it all over - feel the same. Claudia is perfect and Sali was great interviewing her.

Hi all I just wanted to address the entirely valid comments about diversity in the talent pool of In The Bathroom With... Believe me, it is something I am HIGHLY aware of, and have been working on redressing over the past few months. Several brilliant women of colour have agreed to take part over the past few months, and we've talked lots about what we'll do, but they and I were waiting for me to find a new director. My usual director became unavailable last year, hence why there was a very long gap between videos. He agreed to come back as a one-off for the NYC trip. For this trip two women of colour were among those approached but for scheduling reasons, they were not available. Recently, I approached several London-based women of colour to take part and at the same time, let them know I was still looking for a good director before I could film (it's actually really hard finding the right person, as they have to be a pleasure for high profile women to have in their private homes, and blend in enough to not affect the vibe in any way), and I started interviewing some promising director candidates two weeks ago. I am interviewing another two next week. While this was all happening, Caitlin suggested we make a new video. As my old director Nat is a really good friend of both of ours and has been round to Caitlin's house lots in the past, he agreed to do it as a one-off on the back of just seeing his mate. Then the week before last, out of the blue, the Claudia opportunity came along and she was about to get her hair bleached and so, desperate not to miss the opportunity, I begged Kenny, a friend of a friend who had previously said he was too busy to get onboard, to abandon some filming he had on to come and help. It was an emergency and he saved the day, but doesn't have availability to do it longterm. So the search continues. I expect it to be over in the next week or so. As soon as I have someone signed up, I can start filming normally again. And then I have some truly brilliant (and diverse) guests locked and loaded and ready to film. They have been kept abreast of what's happening throughout. Anyway, I just wanted to explain, because this issue is something I am extremely aware of and I am wholly in agreement with those who believe it needs addressing. It is not for want of trying, I promise. Sali

Sali Hughes I think you were trying to pin this to the top of the comments section but it doesn't seem to have worked. I love In the Bathroom With and think it will be great to see some more diversity, especially given that women of colour will likely have great advice on a different set of products. Pat McGrath would be an amazing guest. Xx

Hi Sali, you said I have my shoes on whilst getting into the beautiful white bath, why did you not slip your shoes off? I personally found this disrespectful. Other way round, would you allow Claudia to get into your bath with shoes on, or would you be polite & ask politely for her too remove them?

So fun!! I must confess I didn't know her (I'm not from the UK), but she's amazing. There were so many things she said were I just thought "yess, exactly!". Until the part were she sleeps in her makeup. There she lost me, but anyone to their own. I like how the interviewees are all so real & honest not some edited Instagram BS :) Anyway, now I'm obsessed with a bathtub. AND I also need to go buy a mascara and Mac lipstick. Can't wait to see the second part. PS: Sali the dress is so great!

I actually really love the part where you talked about esthetical beauty of kids. Especially nowdays where we have fashion Instagram pages for kids or KZread channels which focused on kids with strangers putting comments and likes depending on how they look and act. I agree so much with what you said. Although my mum told me that I was beautiful and I am glad she did, she emphasised so much more on inside beauty and achievements and culture and working out and having fun and being nice and creative, on education etc... I love to look good but that's not my priority number 1 at all. None of us knows how long beauty is gone last. We may get hit by a Van on our face tonight. So we better enjoy more other parts of ourself!

At this rate it'll be in the bathtub with :P Honestly, Sali you are one of the best interviewers in the world, I swear.

Given Frida Kahlo was a committed communist, she would've hated the commodification of her image for posh rich white women trying to be 'kooky'.

Fabulous interview, really fun. Envious of the bath, I have a Hong Kong "half bath" very shallow and half the length of a regular bath. Totally useless for anything except taking up valuable bathroom space. Can't wait for the next part of the interview.
