Rain washes away all the mess people made, and all the pain of yesterday. Sadness is partly also euphoria or happiness. At night energy finds us better when others are at rest. Bed feels like one of the safest and usually most comfortable place to be in home. Loudness interferes with brain funcionality when you have to register sounds, analyse etc. I feel like loneliness comes when you havent gotten empathy on your feelings from other soul. I understand.

its 2am, my work is done, another year gone by, I walk out of the building, I am the only one here working. I walk across the parking lot, its flooded with cold wet water, its still raining hard, the temperature is 33 degrees F the lightning and thunder is loud. I get into my van, I take off my coat, hang it up. My wife gets up, gives me a kiss and asks how my day went. I drive off while my wife is heating up my dinner. We park at a resort on top of the highest part of the community under a tree next to the clubhouse. we have a nice view of the city, the whole sky lights up when the lightning hits. I eat my dinner, my wife and i have a few laughs, she comes over and curls up in the drivers seat with me while I eat, she takes my plate and hands me my worn out sweat pants with the legs cut off just below the knees. I had a t-shirts but my wife likes to wear it so i have no shirt to wear. We pull the dark curtain across the back of the front seats, no one can see us where our living space is at. We sit in bed, our son has a special made little loft above us, he has a really soft futon mattress with a flannel blanket. We lay down in our special made 10 inch thick futon mattress with 1800 thread linen and a sherpa blanket. the temperature inside the van is 68deg F, I crack open the vent fan on the roof , turn it on really low. the soft blue LED lights are on, we turn on our deep chillout mix. My wife backs into me to spoon, we go to bed. I wake up around 6am, we are at the 24 hour fitness, we go in, work out then take a nice hot shower all at once. We get into the van, my wife makes her coffee, my son and I have eggs, pancakes, hash browns, juice, milk, my wife has her 3 meat ommlette. We clean up, We head home, yes we have a house in a gated community. I go back to bed, my wife works from home, and takes care of our son. I wake up around 4 hours later, I continue with my sons studies and play with him outside. its an easy life, much different from when we were homeless, living in temporary carboard boxes, learning how to make shelters out of trash and how to stay warm in some really cold weather. We dont take anything for granted, we know we are one of the lucky few who have made it out of poverty but we also have college degrees and work experience. What bothers me isnt the fact that there are more and more people becoming homeless its when people like us who have degrees and work experience end up homeless. We went through the anger, we saw families torn apart, we never thought once to blame each other. we became a stronger team, my wife and I gave each other encouragement and hoped for the best out of every situation, we had lots of let downs, sometimes you could see what little hope leaving us but we didnt give up. We fought, we saved, we became just as mean when we had to fight people away from our shelter, we helped when people asked. I said a little payer everyday, it was the same one over and over, I knew God was busy, I knew one day he would hear me and give us a nudge just big enough to get back to were we once were. I wish sometimes we had never gone through this nightmare, most of the time, we talk about it, it seems like just the right amount of humility and a lesson so powerful to learn that we became so much stronger in our commitment to stay together. Our marriage may not be the best but I wouldnt trade it for anything in this world.
