In Memory Of Kiwi My Quaker Parrot- 1 year since his passing

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

1 years ago today Kiwi passed away so unexpectedly. I noticed him on the door breathing heavily so we rushed him to the vet. He didn't make it. Even the vet wasn't sure what happened. I asked for an autopsy and she said she had never seen something like it before. A single small blood vessel ruptured and didn't heal, so he slowly bled internally. Birds are really good at hiding their illness until it’s too late.
Kiwi was so unique and incredibly smart. He was an amazing problem solver, builder, loved dancing and singing and was always full of energy. He always knew when i was sick and would stick by my side, wipe my tears when i cried. He could be really mean and had such a trolly personality but he was so funny with his laugh as he found it so amusing to goof around.
He was an amazing brother to Mango, helping me raise her, he cleaned her when she had formula all over her, taught her to play with toys, fly, and Mango followed him around doing whatever he did. They always slept together in that box and Mango still to this day and having a hard time dealing with the fact she has to sleep alone and has no one to snuggle with. She has tried to sleep with Luza but Luza isn't accustom to it and prefers her own space in her cage.
Kiwi was an amazing friend to Luza when we first brought her home. He taught her to preen, helped her learn to fly, and to eat healthier. They all stuck together like glue doing everything together and Kiwi was at the centre of it all taking on the leadership role. He would care for both his girl making sure they were always okay.
He was so social, loved everyone he met. Always mischievous and loved his kisses with a surprise bite at the end.
We miss him so much, he passed so spontaneously and well before his time. I know many of you have similar stories, birds are so fragile and thats the nerve wracking part. We do everything in our power to keep them healthy and give them an amazing life but sometime things happen out of our control.
To this day I always think what could I have done differently? I try not to blame myself but it’s hard not to be full of regrets and guilt. We all mourned for him and we still feel the vacancy.
He was my baby boy, my son, we all love him so much. We will meet him again over the rainbow bridge someday. May you be flying happily, eating all the treats you want and socializing with all the birds ❤️

I am so sorry. I lost my jenday conure, Oogle (pictured in my thumbnail), almost 5 years ago and I have not been the same. I have gotten to the point when I no longer cry every day, just most days. She was 23 years old and the love of my life. I have 2 other sun conures, a new baby jenday conure, and a grey cockatiel and I love all of them, but I still miss Oogle terribly. Only a true bird lover can understand the bond we form with them. I will look for Kiwi at the Rainbow Bridge, along with all my other babies. "Rainbow Bridge" Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

@@mimisbirdhouse I have never been a particularly religious person. I guessed I believed in god, but never really thought about it much. When I became a bird person, and found just how lively, caring, intelligent, full of love and life that a bird really is -- I said to myself, "There must be a god. No one else could create such a joyous and incredible creature." If there really is a god, my heaven would be the Rainbow Bridge. I hope to see you there one day.

So very sorry for your loss. What a lovely soul Kiwi was/is. This is a beautiful tribute to Kiwi...and i just want to thank you for sharing your flock on line. I learned from watching you and others as I began my partnership with my 🍍 Conure named JelliBean...she keeps me on my toes all day every day. I wouldn't trade it for the world. 🦜 Sending love. ❤

A nice tribute to Kiwi. He and my late Jenday Conure,Snarky no doubt flying in heaven and keeping things lively for the angels. my 21 yr old QP, Coco and 15 yr old Green Cheek Conure, Baby Girl in good health so far.As i saw with my late Conure, things change quick, and no warning until it's too late. I miss him like you do Kiwi. They are a lot of company to me as a senior citizen living alone. They have been with me since they were babies after their weaning. Snarky was like Eric Cartman, SouthPark TV show. He kept things in the birdroom, let's say interesting like Eric. i was the only human he'd let handle him. Daddy's boy. He'd watch over the flock and god help whoever tried to hurt the other birds. Snarky would have torn them up. He would not have went down without a fight i'm sorry for your loss of Kiwi. He was well taken care of by you and his flock. We both have good memories, videos, and pictures to fall back on of our feather babies.

@@mimisbirdhouse oh, so young. I am so sorry. He had so many years ahead of him. I had my Tori quaker for 19 and a half. Almost made 20. She developed a tumor and was in pain. The vet did all he could to make her comfortable. She was filling up with fluid, and the last time he aspirated, she never recovered. I do miss her lots. She was like almost human in her feelings. I have a new quaker who just turned a year old. Beautiful green opaline. His name is Topaz.

@mimisbirdhouse so nice to get your new message. Topaz is lots of fun, but so active. He has full flight now but flies everywhere. He has started to show a little more aggressive behavior and wants to be on my shoulder constantly. Not good with doing cooking and daily chores. I have him going to the vet Thursday to have wings clipped. I hate to do it, but flying all over and flying to my shoulder not good all the time. He starts to bite my neck and it hurts. He has a much different personality from Tori. She was more docile. So this little guy is much more active than she. He tires me out! But hoping he will calm as he gets a little older.
