In Memory of Joe Cocker 1944 - 2014

Музыка

Joe passes at the age of 70 , Rest in Peace
The Sheffield-born singer had a career lasting more than 40 years, with hits including You Are So Beautiful and Up Where We Belong.
His agent Barrie Marshall said Cocker, who died after battling lung cancer, was "simply unique".
Sir Paul McCartney said he was a lovely guy who "brought so much to the world".
Cocker's friend Rick Wakeman, keyboard player for the rock band Yes, called his rendition of With a Little Help From My Friends "sensational" and said: "He had a voice that was just unique."
Wakeman told BBC Radio 2: "The great thing is with someone like Joe is what they leave behind, and that will be with us for years and years
Here he is one of the most memorable songs 1969 Woodstock, With a Little Help from My Friends

I envy this generation. I was born in the late 80s and now raise kids In this woke-broken and lost world. I would give anything to have been able to experience life in the 60s and 70s. That was living!! The best time for music, cars and technology..then it got out of control and everyone now is all about a fake internet life that doesn't even exist and man is now woman and woman is man and they,he,she.. Fucking scary and yet somehow gets respect. Pray hard end times are near.

As a black guy who grew up with Motown and 1970’s reggae... this was the song that had me fall in love with white Blues Rock music. The intro is a creation of genius!! And Joe Cocker’s talented voice, passion and performance is magical. Music is the gift that unites the world more than anything else. I love it. 💖🎼🎸🥁🎼 RIP Joe. 😢🙏🏾

The last air guitar part after he's done singing is just out of this world. He's giving his all, putting every last drop into it, just like the fans want performers to do. I've been watching this video for probably 10 years. I'll go away from it for a year sometimes, but when I come back, I just appreciate it more. This is rock n' roll. It's the black and white, teen angst, message, love, etc . . .all rolled into one.

Joe entered a different world that day. He was connected to earth physically, but spiritually he was elsewhere. The music completely overtook him and he could barely control himself. You don’t see this raw passion and love for music, where the performance becomes spiritual, from todays cookie cut artists by big corporations whose only goals are to get played on the radio and make money. Music today, for the most part, seriously lacks soul, love and care. Three things Joe ensured his music had. We miss you, brother, hope the next life is treating you well. Forever missed in your previous one.

And why the so called Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" is a scham as is any hall of fame ect, which determines artistic merit or value based on any means that does not solicit or consider the opinion of the fan base population. In my humble opinion, to exclude the likes of Cocker from any such public recognition is to re-write history, into a tale of fiction that is severely lacking so many incredibly talented artists and musicians throughout music history that I cannot imagine placing any value whatsoever to its existence. What select small group of "judges" should consider themselves worthy of dictating the historical worth of one legendary artist over another? If you have an appreciation of music then that should account for a vote and if your opinion were considered then that would at least give some validity to the inductees, otherwise I call BS. Cheers!

Hendrix was playing Sunday morning as the sun came up, Star Spangled Banner. Funny, outside of aches and pains, feel young. Saw Joe play in Boston. and Bonnie Raitt with Albert King. Jack's on Mass ave. J Giles was the bar band. Hendrix at the spectrum(revolving stage) in Phillie and Cream there in 69 (Clapton was incredible.Ginger baker played two sets of drums. I am still amazed by him. Played something different with each hand, each foot.) Listen to "Politician" on Wheels of Fire album.

When one sings to and from the soul as Joe did, it didn't matter what you looked like if you could sing and Boy! this man could sing. When I sing, I sing from my soul to other souls out there. And I do it as I please. Thank you, Joe for all that you gave. 😊❤

In my opinion the best performance ever recorded ! So pure , rough and honest ! Even the Beatles were impressed and said : This is Joe song now !

Joe Cocker simboliza el movimiento hippie de esa época!su voz garrasposa es única y la manera de exteriorizar la música con su movimiento corporal lo hacen inimitable.

Just came here to escape the virus hype. It is good to be careful - but don’t forget that life has joy to offer even when times are difficult. I am so grateful for the handful of true friends I have. We will make it through this if we are each others’ friends.

Went to Woodstock + 50 at Bethel ten days ago: Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band closed it with a wonderful performance of this quintessential Beatle's song. Certainly the unofficial Woodstock theme forever...

I was born in 1952 in south america, I must confess I was blown away by Joe´s performance(and Janis Joplin´s , and Jimi hendrix´s, and Alvin Lee´s) when I first watched the woodstock movie at a time I didn´t even speak english, I still enjoy these songs in my High sixties like it was yesterday.
