What a lovely, poignant comment. I'm at the same stage in my life. And it's not just those I admired when I was growing up; it's people I watched in classic movies and vintage TV shows with my grandmother, who passed in 1985. I miss her dearly, and miss them as old friends. RIP to beautiful Inga Swenson from "Benson."

When I turned 50, a 95-year-old friend of mine said "50? That's the age that you start pressing on the brakes and realizing you're not stopping". Seemed like he just told me that and it's over 10 years ago now. He lived to 97.

My parents sadly died last year. My dad died on the 2 March 2023 and my mum died on the 7 August 2023, due to them having serious ill health and I think about them everyday 🙏

My father died last month, May 14, 2024, at the age of 100. I do not miss him at all. He was an evil father, and a bad husband.

Lost my heart in 2020, my mommy. Think and miss her every single day i breathe. Cant wait to see her again upstairs someday. She was a hell of a woman. Being with her when she took her last breath was the hardest but honored that i was with her when she said goodbye. I love u momma. Rose.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Another one that you missed was former MLB Catcher turned announcer Tim McCarver, who passed away on 2/16/23 of heart failure at the age of 81. He was given the Ford C. Frick Award for his announcing and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.

I agree completely. Tim McCarver was a key member of the St. Louis Cardinals and helped the Cardinals win the World Series in 1964, 1967 and very nearly in 1968. I also enjoyed listening to him as a broadcaster and certainly deserved to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame!

Last year that being 2022 was my grandma who passed at 83 after suffering for many years with dementia and inability to walk. This year was my cousin who was 31 years old and was born when I was 13. He passed from a brain aneurysm. Very similar to my father who died in 2016 of a brain aneurysm.

I'm 73 and father of 9 ... and am so delighted that I took my 2 oldest children to see Gordon in concert, a thrill we will always remember. I'd gone to Woodstock with my 2 best friends from school after having seen countless great concerts with them throughout the 60s (Cream, Bob Dylan, Donovan, Joanie Mitchell, Buddy Rich, The Dave Brubeck Quartet, the young Beach Boys, Jethro Tull (twice), The Doors (twice), The Jefferson Airplane, The Righteous Brothers, Joe Cocker, etc.). And yes, we did find time to attend school! Gordon Lightfoot helped lead the charge of the "Canadian Folk Invasion," bringing a range of styles and creativity for which we are all indebted. "Nothing succeeds like success, and thus his prolific, thrilling music certainly helped encourage fellow Canadians to bring their own brilliance to the world. For instance, I regard Tom Rush's cover of "Urge for Going" as one of the most astonishing recordings in the archives of folk music! His voice sounds like a rich oak tree come to life. Dear God, remember this gifted child of Yours, who had the decency in his last years to publicly apologize for his selfish womanizing while married. Bravo, Gordon Lightfoot. You are quite a legend indeed! THAT reveals a man with a conscience, a readiness to admit wrongdoing. This makes all the difference in a person. We all do evil to God and man in our life. It is so encouraging to witness one of the great celebrities show humility and sorrow for his sins. I love him all the more for it!

I know how you feel, lost my sister in 2004 and never got to grow old together! We were gonna be hot ladies but like you cancer got her! I even knew something was wrong because I thought she looked bad at a family event! Told my husband something is wrong with my sister she doesn't look like she's getting oxygen in her face and she told me she had a pain in her right shoulder and sure enough she had lung cancer! I asked people to look at her and see if they see what I see! Of course nobody saw what I saw! Then when she got worse and told she had lung cancer everyone asked how I knew! She's my sister, we did everything together! I was like could I go to her Dr and say Hey my sister looks like she's not getting oxygen to her face, she was very pale, almost grey to me, would a Dr believe me, No. This was 2004 and I think of her everyday and am still angry at her for leaving me and #1 not quit smoking! 😭💔😭💔

You forgot about Jane Birkin passing on july 16th 2023 at 76. She was a britsh/French actress,singer,playwritter and fashion Icon but she was also known for being Serge Gainsbourg partner from 1969 to 1979. After his death in 1991 she became a French Activist. She recieved a distinction for her work and her contribution to expending French music culture overseas. She died of leukimia at her home in Paris. Surrounded by Charlotte Gainsbourg her daughter, also a very-well-known actress.

Thank you for this information. Dick Biondi had a wonderful classic DJ voice and I listened to him in Chicago. I also watched Kamar de Los Reyes on One Life to Live and he was very talented. So many sad losses I didn’t hear about, and so many due to heart issues and cancer. This is one of the best and most thorough in memoriams I’ve seen. Thank you.

She madea video the day she died. Lively, energetic, laughing. She talked about how she called up a top US intelligence leader about heart attack guns used on alternative health care doctors. She died a few hours later. Almost certain she did not die of cancer but rather, someone got to her for her speaking truth.

We really lost a lot of legendary and incredible entertainers, authors, athletes and other industry leaders last year. Tina Turner. Harry Belafonte. Raquel Welch. Bob Barker. Pat Robertson. Sandra Day O'Connor. Burt Bacharach. Tony Bennet. Wow. Even though most were elderly and long retired, when they pass it still feels like such a loss of talent and personality. Thank God we have their films, recordings, writings and accomplishments to cherish. We're shocked and saddened when the younger ones leave us too soon. But we're just never ready for our celebrities and heroes, of any age, to pass on. RIP beloved.

Notable addition: Jamin Pugh AKA Jay Briscoe. A former Ring of Honor world champion as well as former multiple time tag team champion alongside his brother Mark. Jamin died in a car crash on January 17th at the age of 38

We lost some big names in entertainment, sports, and music in 2023. I think the one that hit me the most was Matthew Perry and I wasn't even a Friends fan. Just too young.

How right you are! I remember my beloved “NANA” telling me years ago when she was in her late 60’s how “fast time was going by!” As a teenager it was hard to fathom for I thought time would go by “slowly” when you were older! Now in my early 70’s myself I fully understand what she meant! The older I get, the faster time seems to be going by! It seems like only yesterday I was 30, 35 and so on! As a child you can’t wait to be a teenager, then 16, then 18, 21 & so on. I look back now & wonder where the time went, wishing I had perhaps “savored all those precious early years more”, but I suppose “that is life!” I see contemporaries passing away & musical acts & actors I loved passing away and it is startling, especially when they are younger than me!🤣I had bouts of cancer past few yrs ( God Bless Dana Farber in Boston and all the doctors, nurses & staff there & at Brigham Women’s…AMEN!♥️) & I realize we all live by one thin thread! There sure seemed to be an inordinate amount of notable passings in 2023. The number just seemed to be higher, this year. Maybe it wasn't, but it seemed like it. Just the sheer length of this particular video says a lot: well over a half-hour. Most of these aren't that long -- if any.

We lost some truly great people last year ❤

My family all passed away, daddy..1976, mama..1982, and my brother...1998, baby brother..1962. Also lost 3 half brothers and 2 half sisters. I miss them dearly. I have one brother left now. He's 73 years old, he lives so far away.. how i miss them and I'd let them know how much I love them 😢

My family is all gone to. My daddy and mama died 6 months apart in 1995, both of different kinds of cancer. I lost my big brother 7 yrs later of heart disease. I miss them all so much. Husband and kids don't understand. It is so lonely. 😥💔

The official cause of death for Lisa Marie was cardiac arrest HOWEVER, she waited too long to seek treatment for a small bowel obstruction. She was in extreme pain by the time she finally went in. After seeing she passed, I went in and was rushed to surgery. I love you Lisa even if i waited too long as well. 5 days ICU, 4 days regular room. Your passing saved my life. Miss ya boo

Excellent! In a long line of excellent tributes to those we lost. Production values continue to be outstanding. Loved that two pictures were provided for the child stars! One from their star days and another a contemporary pic. The Adam Rich photo broke my heart, so adorable. And as an adult nice looking though I would never have recognized him. Always watched HBO comedy on new years eve, he was always on.

I can't believe how up-to-date it was, I didn't know Shecky Greene had passed!

I know it’s difficult to include all celebrities who died during the year, much less locate the announcement of their passing in the media - especially one who went missing in January, was the object of a widespread search and rescue effort which eventually had to be discontinued due to weather conditions, and whose body was found six months later and took several days to positively identify. Rest in Peace Julian Sands!

This is a great presentation. We also lost Shane MacGowan on November 30, 2023, due to complications from pneumonia. He was a founding member, songwriter, and frontman for The Pogues and later Shane Macgowan and The Popes.

Most of these greats were well known by me as I grew up. Had no idea about Bobby Knight. I knew he had dementia.I didn't hear about Cale Yarborough yet. Rest In Peace to all. Also I had a long time co-worker who passed away if mouth cancer on September 8 at the age of 73.

Greatest loss for me was in Aug 2023 after losing my daddy suddenly then 7 days later my best friend was found dead in his apt of a sudden cardiac arrest. I don’t even know how to breathe anymore. Bob Smoke and Dana Sparks….forever loved! 💔😇🙏

I also appreciated seeing Tyler Christopher but equally disappointed for the absence of Billy Miller. Billy appeared in suits and also had a fairly long term role on General Hospital. Sadly, Billy at 43 too, his own life.

A bunch of soap actors passed over the past year. Jackie Zeman, Andrea Evans, Billy Miller, Tyler Christopher and more recently Alec Musser are among the people that passed away that were popular in American soaps. At this time we're down to four. Young and the Restless, General Hospital, Days of Our Lives (online now), and Bold and The Beautiful. I'd like to thank all the actors who do their best on every show throughout all the years to provide entertainment for the viewers.
