I've been binge watching Jenny's videos and my list is growing and growing. The way she speaks about books is so compelling! But I'm forever grateful for her videos on Dante. This has had a huge impact on me and my life. I'm going to read The Villa with you all in February. Unfortunately I don't have any of Jenny's messages on Voxer. Just like you, I had the thought of needing to talk to her. I am an INTJ-A and a 5.

I am a recent fan of Jennifer. The announcement video was a total shock to me and the sadness has lingered. She influenced me by my seeking out books she spoke of. Her love of Richard III encouraged me to buy THE SUNNE IN SPLENDOUR. I have missed her posts and am saddened there will be no more. This honoring of her memory brings a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart. Thank you.

What a lovely tribute. Jenny made me revisit books I had read years ago and had a fixed opinion about, to read them again with an open mind and maybe get more out of it or view them differently this time around. Her passion for these books rekindled my own and it was a gift I will treasure forever.

Christy, Thank you so much for posting Jennifer's memorial service. Social media is such a strange thing. You watch people and comment back and forth and feel like you know someone you've never met. Conversely I feel like I've lost someone I knew even though we never spoke. I still can't wrap my brain around the fact that she's gone and my heart breaks for her Mom. I'm glad Pam went to Rome with her recently. She was the first Booktuber I found years ago and my favorite. She'll be soooo missed by so many.

I'll miss her. I found her channel at about the same time as I found yours. And I loved her love of the classics. I used to enjoy the reading sprints - even if they were at ridiculous hours of the day for the UK. 🤣 I picked up a lot of books on her recommendations. I finished Dante's Vita Nuova today, which is my first Dante. It's the taster before I take on The Divine Comedy itself. I'm going to try and read as much Jennifer reading in February as possible. PS If you ever want to do a Zoom call let me know.

Good evening, Christy. I've been making youtube videos for ten years discussing comics. I did not think I'd become friends with anyone. That is not the case, of course. In the comic book community there have been several devastating losses these last few years, many were young like your friend, Jennifer. I wasn't close to any of them, but they were to many youtubers I knew. I did not know Jennifer, and up until recently didn't watch many booktubers, except those I was subscribed to like yourself, Noah, Silje, Tom, and a handful of others. But I knew who she was through your videos. Clearly she was a kind and inspiring individual who affected the lives of many people. Your tribute tonight was heartfelt. I am sorry for your loss, Christy, but what did Byron write about friendship, that it was love without wings. Best to you from Texas.

What a beautiful tribute! Thank you for sharing your memories of her. Jenny was a very inspirational and magnetic person and it’s obvious from the outpouring of love from you and others. She touched so many of us! She definitely influenced my reading. I would binge watch a bunch of her old videos and make lists of books to buy. It’s because of her I read Dante, Vasari’s The Lives of the Artists, and I beefed up my Ancient Roman History section. Coincidentally this fall I was reading Ravenna by Judith Herrin at the same time Jenny was. I didn’t know it when I started the book but found out when I watched her review video. I was thinking I need to comment and tell her about it! I wish I had been more in top of that. I though I had time to get around to it eventually. I was thinking the other day how so many of us with completely different reading tastes could read entirely different books and we would all be reading like Jenny! Isn’t that great!

Thank you so much for sharing these memories of Jennifer. You both clearly meant a lot to each other. She was fiercely intelligent, wickedly funny, and brought me so much joy. The most recent book I read because of Jenny was Big Swiss, which she said she rightfully thought I would enjoy because we shared an appreciation of unhinged women books. We also shared Interview with the Vampire as our favorite book. I read the following books due to Jenny: Romantic Outlaws, The Villa, Booth, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and I reread The Witching Hour because of her. I know there are more. I bought A special edition of Moby Dick in December with Jennifer in mind and will be reading it this year and picturing her at the beach devouring this novel.

I had already decided to do a deep dive into Ancient Lit this year due to her channel, and to read The Woman in White for the first time, too. At some point I want to read more epic poetry, which she also loved. She has left a hole in my life, there is no one like her.

Lovely video Christy! I also fell in love with her since the first video I saw. Immediately subscribed and watched every single video ❤️ I really identified with both her love of older classics and newer romantasy. I started reading medieval literature because of her (even if medieval wasn’t what she read the most, she inspired me to do so). I was already intrigued by Vikings history and she made me go deep into it 🤓 I keep forgetting to tag you in a similar video like this that I did where I talked about the ways she influenced my life 🥰 I’ll tag you so you can see it 🥰 (I’m an INFJ and a 6).

I am an INTJ and finding Booktube has really helped me to "find my people!" as I've heard Kate Howe say :) Being a Christian also has been a great way to find things in common with others. I appreciate you talking about your anxiety. As an introvert, it can be a challenge to feel comfortable in a world mostly comprised of extroverts!

Hi, Christy. I only ever had interactions with Jennifer in the Comments section of her channel, but still I felt her genuine interest in what her BookTube community had to say about her content. I've been going back to her older videos, and there's only one word for her (besides "authentic"): Jenny herself is a classic--what she has to say is interesting, relevant, and will stand the test of time! And, as a classic, she will only ever be present to me. If it can console you, as it does me, I will mention her words in the video on books to read before Dante's DC, re: his view of Beatrice: she was "too good to be in this world for long" (JB). That is exactly my feeling about Jennifer. What manner of sagacity can such a young person have if not because her intelligence and wisdom are guided by an old soul! But, I digress--I have some book suggestions, and a request: 1) "in no particular order" (JB): "Big Swiss" (from her unhinged woman reading journey), "Booth" (per Jenny, "a lightning strike moment for her"), and "Blue Lily, Lily Blue" ("this was formative for me"-JB); 2) would you consider adding a "If I Could Ask Jenny" thread to the "We Love Jenny" Discord space (or maybe somewhere else more appropriate) to answer some questions (only the appropriate ones of course!) that you might know the answer to? I often find that I regret not having spoken with a deceased friend or family member more often, or am frustrated that I can no longer ask my mother or sister a question that only they know the answer to. For example, I would have liked to ask Jenny more about her K-pop interests, or if she had any K-drama favourites; especially, since she liked cooking (or more baking), I wondered if she had ventured into trying Korean food (though most of it is spicy)--tteokbokki, jjigae, etc. I even wondered if she was into Korean beauty products (they're excellent!). Anyway, you get the idea. In sum, I'll end with one final quote from Jenny's wisdom font (I'm actually thinking of creating a Commonplace Book of Jennyisms!): ""Human reason, it can only take you so far; eventually, you have to give in, and have a little faith". Jenny inspires me to want to give in and have a little faith.🧡

Unusual people are attractive BECAUSE they are serially obsessed and stand out in comparison to the so many who are just going through the motions while searching for cues from others. She clearly knew what she liked and had VERY broad interests and opinions. I'd never heard of JB until some book tubers that I check in from time to time mentioned that she had unexpectedly died. I've watched a number of her videos since, and I get it. Yeah, she was an original. Was she a lesbian, a feminist, a Christian, a pro- (or anti-) vaxer, someone who loved Italy, a few or many of the above? I have no idea, nor do I need to know. BUT, she was quite well read for her age, she did put out compelling content, she had a lovely voice, and a puckish sense of humor. The community is diminished by her departure.
