I am 70 and have fished all my life from Canada to grand isle Louisiana. I did not like FFS at first. But when I got honest with myself about why I didn’t like it it was because I felt like the young guys using it were not having to pay the dues to learn the seasoned movement of the fish like my generation had to do. Very bad reason!! I now see it as the future of the sport that should be embraced.

Lets stop with the jealous narrative, 95 percent of the people who are against it dont like it because it doesnt even feel like fishing anymore, more like a video game. Alot of people like the unknown aspect of fishing and dont want every advantage in the world to see the bass . Almost every tournament is getting won with it, guys flipping jigs and throwing top water can't win anymore because almost all tournaments get won by guys with ffs and a jerkbait or jig and soft plastic. Its bad for the sport and bad for tournament viewership because guys stare at their screen all day and the fans dont wanna see that. Yes they used to do it with 2d sonar and dropshots for a handful of smallmouth tournaments before ffs came around, but that wasn't even close to how the majority of tournaments were won. I think most fans would rather see a guy flipping a jig , throwing a crankbait or spinnerbait , or a topwater rather than sitting there jigging a little soft plastic minnow while staring at a screen all day.
