Are the Dunu SS tips generally associated with a broader sound stage? I've been wondering about the Timeless since I started looking at IEM's. This review was really useful. Thanks.

the nozzle tip is from the ikko gem OH10S. i did the same thing. another reason i hate those IEMs. the compressed top end is the other. side note, love the channels, i bought the meze advar and love them, but ive spent a bunch on lower priced IEMs from your reviews and found them to be super fun and enjoyable. glad price and fun aren't related with hifi

Those nozzles with the side vents and closed top may create some reflections, listen for it in your testing and let us know. In the 90s I owned a co in Nashville that made custom speakers and monitors for touring musicians. We built a custom monitor for the Oak Ridge Boys and they wanted a really wide Soundstage on the thing, unusual as most monitors (speakers) have a narrow focus. We reversed a mid high 100 w driver into a stainless steel round inverted horn, and the mid highs had a huge Soundstage as the driver fired into the center and sound came completely around in a wide spread. It was a lot like this nozzel concept. It sounded great at first, you could hear that one speaker everywhere onstage. However I kept hearing something strange so I went looking for it. I disconnected the woofer and listened to just the horn. At moderate to high volume I started to hear something very strange. The sound going from the driver was hitting the metal and spreading out to the sides as it was supposed to do, but at high volume it sounded just like bbs hitting against a metal pan.It was in the background but you could still hear it. We completely redesigned it because of that. So, Im wondering if the sound hitting that metal tip and then shooting out the sides, (which is what we did) be the same way at high volumes? Please give it a good listen and check that detail out, because sound aimed into a metal stop and reflected back can create sound of its own, and if this happens it will sound like tiny ticks in the background at high volumes. Of course we were putting a lot of power into just that driver, but the principle is the same. Really curious about this. Sonny T

@@ReverendDr.Thomas actually it’s a request to listen for a particular potential problem. That’s what he does, listen and review. Sometimes you can’t distinguish a flaw without becoming aware that it may be there. Especially since you can’t separate the low end from a single driver , I found our problem by disconnecting the woofer. In this case listening at high volume for a bit should make you aware that it’s there or not. Sonny T

@@in-earfetish so you didn’t hear what we heard or you’d definitely be concerned. Maybe because it’s m/w instead of 100 watts rms, not enough force to make that . If you’d have heard it you’d recognize it so it’s probably not there. At least they gave enough nozzles so you don’t have to use that one if you don’t like it.

The iem connecter part clearly has warn out. only disconnected them about 20 -30 times over 6 monthes mainly due to not getting a good connection. they worked great for the first month. Ill never use MMCX again.

It looks like they went with MMCX because I'm guessing that they have shitloads of original Timeless IEM and adapted them to this new nozzles, carbon fiber sticker and cable to clear them out. MMCX 7hz? They know better.

@@in-earfetish we do the same thing using analog or digital distribution amps. It’s nothing new, been done since the 50s. Very common in pro or studio audio. We do exactly what you’re doing with the headphone amps in the studio except it sends the signal to different sets of monitor speakers instead of headphone amps. You can select different speakers to listen and compare mixes. The consumer market sells a simple version of this for stereo systems they call a speaker switcher. Lots of Vintage 70s and 80s receivers have the same thing, they called it Speaker A or Speaker B. Same concept. I’m glad to see consumer audio doing this.
