Understanding the world's thinnest perpetual calendar and the winner of the Aiguille d'Or at the GPHG 2019, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin.
In 2018, Audemars Piguet introduced a concept watch named RD#2. It was based on a Royal Oak, it was very thin, it was even 2mm thinner than the iconic Royal Oak "Jumbo" Extra-Thin 15202. The most impressive feature is that it even comprised a perpetual calendar.
This year, Audemars Piguet introduces the final version of the RD#2 with the Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, the world's thinnest perpetual calendar. By changing entirely the architecture of the movement and its perpetual calendar mechanism, AP managed to have all the parts in one single plane. And that's how Audemars Piguet managed to create a watch measuring only 6.3mm in height.
This achievement has even been awarded the Aiguille d'Or at the GPHG 2019, the Oscars of the Watchmaking Industry.

Have you seen the Jules salmon dial & blue dial vintage ones? Nothing beats those almost impossible to find but they are the most beautiful ones in the world. This one takes 3rd place.

I love this thin perpetual calendar, but I have a really hard time convincing my wife why it should cost more than a S Class sedan, and to tell me daughter why this is a good investment.

u must be dreaming, Royal oak have kept its value the best so far. even better sports Rolex! the production have stopped and the prices are not down at all unfortunately
