    I've had my Argo 6x6 for almost 20 years now, I paid about $9,500 new, used it a lot when new, but kept getting tickets from the DNR for going into the water even registered as a watercraft. So I built a homemade snow plow and it works great you can't stop it, I have never done any (zero) repairs on it since day one and it runs drives great yet and everything works!

    love our argo..didn't get into it for speed...have 2016 huntmaster with 18 inch rubber tracks and run mostly in winter...bought for capability … spend a few extra bucks and and do a bit of prep work and you can get yourself out of almost any situation.. we got an extra winch for pulling backwards.. if front is down in a hole .. can be a challenge to get it(winch ) from front to back.. rig another winch so you just have to slide it into the receiver on the back... plug in … and your good to go..stay calm and have a check list like a pilot so your prepared.. ...make sure drain plugs are in and you can just relax and take it all in stride... have fun in places that others won't go near ...thats what argos are all about....

    Just bought a 2021 Argo frontier 600 as just wanted to try it and no get too deep. $10999 in Almonte ontario Canada. Will make a decent machine to try out. Didnt kill the bank. $40 a week is what im paying. Mehhhh if i like it ill go with 8x8 Aurora which i liked better. Test drove a 950 which was much nicer but like $30 K ..Expect a video soon as picking up today. Ill try and do without music lol god knows everybody hates that lol

  • @2artactical55
    @2artactical552 жыл бұрын

    They went from the 8x8s being a 6 seater on land to only a 4 seater and the price is way higher to where MOST people can't afford the new ones! I paid $32,000 for my 2012 Chevy Suburban with 20k miles in 2012. These new "recreational" AATV almost cost as much as my full sized Suburban did and it has onstar, leather seats and all the bells and whistles you'd expect. Argo made a few changes on thier transmissions, tire size and engine size but the drive train is really no different than the much cheaper older models that still do the same thing the newer models do. My 2000 Argo Conquest 8x8 can still go the same places the newer ones can go and do but my 2000 Argo only cost me $5500 with only 96 hours on it as apposed to $28,000 for these new Aroras. Argo will soon price themselves back out of the ATV, UTV market which costs about half of one of these $28,000 Argos! You can buy a new Jeep Gladiator for what you'd pay for a plastic made Arora driven by chains, a couple of springs added to the steering system, and an oversized lawnmower engine. If you were doing an honest and forthcoming review for your fans and other people, you'd discuss what I just covered with everyone. Oh Argos are indeed amazing machines but they still can't justify a $28,000+ price tag on them.

    Talk more about the drivetrain, where all the problem were/are. I’ve owned Argos since 1981. Always bought two together and worked them side by side in industry! I see all the cosmetic changes but more time has to be spent on making the machine more reliable in the drive train for extreme remote areas.

  • @jamesscott5407

    @jamesscott5407

    4 жыл бұрын

    It isn't classical brake steer as in clutch and brake,or a braked open differential which is wasteful (and 1930's tech) it is a triple differential system, when you want to turn left there is a brake applied on the right which is attached to a planetary output,this increases the speed on that side,this change I'm speed is fed through a caged pinion diff that accelerates the opposite planetary set which has the effect of altering the average speed of the gear set and will slow down by the same ratio the opposite side has sped up. It is very efficient and allows non self steering regenerative turns to be accomplished. Originally designed by Henry merrit in the 1930's...awkward, it was put in to production first in the Churchill tank and subsequently served in the majority of British tracked vehicles until the mid 80's.vthe Patton tanks of America used an Allison cd-850 transmission which also used the merritt triple diff steer system. There are many military vehicles that still use it. It's famous for allowing unbeatable climbing prowess.

The oil filter is so misplaced it took me two days to get it off and another day to put it back on. Be sure to wrap your hands and wrists also or they will be torn to pieces from where you must reach. I thought changing the transmission oil would be easier, but they put a component right in front of the drain plug so you cannot use a socket. Too much machinery in the way to use a box wrentch. Very frustrating.

    that may be true BUT! you still to deal with getting traction also when you outa water too. Sent there 8 tire wheels 4 on each side the best way to set up the DIRECTIONAL V-TYPE TREAD is: front V point forward 2nd point ^backward 3rd forward 4th^ backward. this way when in water the front rows tries and the 3rd rows tries will PULL YOU FORWARD. while the 2nd row and 4th row tire will even out the paddling for pushing through the water. Doing this configuration will help with better control and traction in mud/bogs/snow/water. If not agreed go on YOU TUBE type search for the HISTORY OF BIGFOOT monster truck. in that video you see bigfoot in the water using there monster truck tractor tries running the forward with the V-TIRE so the paddling this pulling the truck through the water.

    Нафан к. Yea, the sherp isn't going to cut it for a guy who wants the performance of a sxs. The yamaha will run maybe 50 mph and the polaris general will run 70+ out of the box. No, they don't float (God knows all yamahas are boat anchors to behin with), but by the time you're across the pond or swamp in a sherp, a conventional sxs would have had time to go around the body of water and still be ahead of the sherp. Different vehicles with different capabilities.

    GibsonOfAGun it needs anything but halogens. Led's arent all they're cracked up to be...even with a good projector. The wife has a 10" rigid on her outlander & I'm running a middle of the road set of hid's. The hid projects more useful light further down the trail than the rigid and they were less than 1/2 the cost.

    What I find lacking in Argo is the drive train all chains and them wheel bearings the need to do something different. Hydastatic drive. Not for outdoorsman needs shaft drive
