    I come from a Tekken background and the way Tekken handles frame data in combos is very different from 2D fighters so this was immensely useful.

    In what way?

    @ You don't have to be as tight on inputs most of the time and the link system is just doing regular strings. Also hit confirming is easier since the juggle system is alot visually clearer. I'm a high rank in Tekken (Emperor) and Tekken is a harder series overall but 2D fighters are difficult in their own way too.

    Yes. Think of it like a rhythm game. If the move doesn’t come out, you pressed too early. If it doesn’t Combo, you pressed too late. Play the rhythm in your head based on the sounds of your buttons. Adjust slower or faster based on that criteria above. Build an internal rhythm to attach to muscle memory. But it’s very musical, in a way.

    Sadly, no. I’m not sure why, but KZread really hated this video and it dropped off the algorithm almost immediately. And that discouraged me from making a part three as these videos take forever to make. O_o I hate that it affects my drive to make videos like this. It’s still always in the back of my head to make, though.

    Thanks for the videos man. I'm moving to 2ds and I never thought that it'd be like restarting learning fighting games all over again 😵😵😵 Is it possible for someone from one nation to start representing another one. Because I plan on dropping 3ds and start learning and maining 2ds from now on, and move to US, eventually. But by the time I plan on starting competing I'm still gonna be living in my native country for a while. Doesn't anyone know anything about it, I couldn't find an answer anywhere online?

    Hey James Chen Da Gawd I have a question if ya don't mind. What should I set the practice mode input delay to best recreate what it's like online (average). It goes from 0 to 5 frames of delay and I was thinking of setting it at 2 or 3. Any thoughts? Sorry if you covered this somewhere else

  • @UltraChenTV

    @UltraChenTV

    Жыл бұрын

    I did not cover it. To be honest, because SF6 uses Rollback, and GOOD Rollback netcode at that, you don’t need to use that option. That generally only applies to delay-based netcode. So rest assured you can practice at no delay and it’ll feel the same Online.

    @ 16:50 The Cancel Window is really my *primary* challenge at this point. i can't just have the "cancel window be damned." if i'm going to *execute* a combo i need to know *when* to start the inputs. Case in point: In the Combo Trials i am stuck with *every* character (almost) on their Drive Impact cancel combo It's supposed to be *Basic.* xD i can't seem to figure out when the thing really ends and when i should start the inputs. Two in ones also seem harder to do in this game or maybe that's just me. I'm not rusty though, i do two in ones for Ryu and Sakura's Super a lot in Street Fighter V still, for example. The two in one isn't just my "preferred" cancel method, it's what taught me how combos worked originally in one of the only "How to combo" videos that CAPCOM USA ever produced. HELP! :3

  • @UltraChenTV

    @UltraChenTV

    Жыл бұрын

    Ah, when I say Cancel Window be damned, I didn't mean the issue you're running into. I'm talking about he Forced Late Cancels some normals enforce onto you. That's not what you're running into. I'll give you the best advice I can give, and I actually mean it: this is SUPER good advice. It's not about when to START the inputs, it's all about when to END the inputs. That changes everything for you. When you turn on the Cancel Window visual in Training Mode, the thing that turns you RED when you can cancel moves, understand that the button press MUST BE DONE DURING THAT PERIOD. Even without the Red, it's intuitive to realize the button must be pressed WHEN YOUR MOVE MAKES CONTACT. That'll help a lot in your two-in-ones aka cancels aka buffers. Also, check your settings in the Main Menu. Make sure you're at the title screen where you can select Battle Hub, Fighting Ground, etc. Go to the menu from there and check your controls. Make sure Button Release Input is on. This is something that has been on since the original SFII. They turned it off by default in SF6, but a lot of classic players have found this causes them issues. Try turning it on and see if it helps with your two-in-ones. (EDIT: I noticed you said you can do two-in-ones no problem in SFV, so apologies for writing all this that you probably already knew. LOL! I read your comment wrong, but I'll leave it here for now 1) in case it DOES help. 2) for anyone else who reads this!) As for the Drive Impact combos, are you just saying you have problems following the Drive Impact up with the moves afterwards, because you're not sure when the Drive Impact ends? Lemme know, I'd love to help.

  • @UltraChenTV

    @UltraChenTV

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah. In Training Mode, do to Display Settings. One of them says Cancel Input or something to that degree. And if turned on, your character will glow Red whenever they can cancel into a Special Move. Some moves will have no Red as they cannot be canceled at all. If they glow Blue, it means it can only be canceled into a Super Combo that is allowed.

    @@UltraChenTV Thank you SO much! i'll integrate all of this into my training this week! i didn't even KNOW about the cancel tool, YES! Oh God YES!! That window will take me to the precise moment i'm looking for, and i think you understand my challenge with the Drive Impacts. The animation is so long i don't know where to start because you're right, i really don't know where it ENDS. Also your guides are Amazing James but how can i see that data if i can't do the combo to begin with to use an an example? :3 Thanks again James you're a HUGE help and a great teacher! :D Sorry i didn't reply right away but i have the bell clicked an' everything an' i didn't get a notification. Hi James. I have a execution problem on pad and I wonder if you can give me some tips. I'm trying to learn SF6 Juri on pad and I just in general have a hard time to consistently execute ex moves on pad. Trying to hit 2 facebuttons with my thumb is very inconsistent. And Juri even have ex moves that demands specific inputs (LK/MK+HK). Trying to hit a facebutton and R2 trigger at the same time is so difficult for me. Is there a better way to do it on pad? I thought I found the solution with the "Simultaneous Input Assistance" button. I mapped it to L2 and DI to R3 (don't judge me, It seemed intuitive at the time). I thought "Simultaneous Input Assistance" would give me the ex move depending on the strength of the button I pressed. But NO! It alwasy give the heavy version no matter the strength I pressed (I can't believe they didn't think about it). So it didn't really help me with Juris ex moves. And my DI responses became even more trash. So.... help me ObiWan Kenobi. You're my only hope.

  • Жыл бұрын

    If you're using a normal pad, L2 and R2 are probably analogue triggers with a wide range of motion. This is great for racing games, but very much not ideal for fighters. It would explain why hitting a face button and R2 simultaneously is difficult for you - R2 has such a long pull that it's hard to time it to activate at exactly the same time as the face button. I can recommend getting a pad that has simple digital buttons instead of analogue triggers. I have a Hori Fighting Commander for PS4 that has this feature, as well as having two extra face buttons. Much nicer for fighting games.
