What a brilliant man! He was the best professor I'd ever had and modeled his orientation to open up new ways of thinking right in the classroom! I hadn't known until this interview that he'd been inspired by Jung.
Mihaly was originally from Hungary. His real name was Mihaly Dumitru Margareta Corneliu Leupold Blanca Karol Aeon Ignatius Raphael Maria Niketas A. Shilage
He’s not specifying whether flow hacks dopamine feedback loop or not like video games. I don’t think it’s the same as an artist or athlete performing or a person practicing Tai Chi. I suspect that he’s talking about “Wu Wei” which is Taoism’s ideal state of moving in harmony with life but it’s not a pursuit of dopamine hack of reward pursuit like gaming.
