My Opinion Opening: Lightspeed Rescue Red: GoGo-V Blue: GoGo-V Green: Lightspeed Rescue Yellow: GoGo-V Pink: Tie Villains: GoGo-V Overall Winner: GoGo-V

I always assumed they hired Vipra's actor because she looked close enough to the Sentai actor to pass as her in background shots.

I think for the opening it's a tie. I absolutely use to get (and still do) get pump when ever I hear "Power rangers Light speed! RESCUE" but with Go Go V it's just epic. Not only the theme fits its motif much better, but the sound makes you feel that you are genuinely putting your life on the line to save humanity and don't even get me started on those background vocals singing with their epic voices and that music is just heroic. For OST, Go Go v takes it. Sentai soundtracks are always really well done especially for emotional scene. My favourite is the Braver sword ost. Light-speed rescue is pretty forgettable. For the Characters Red- I prefer Matoi a lot more. He is that sort of cheesy brother that act like parent that makes you laugh. In the series he actually taunts the villain in such a fun way and this is done beautifully with Taikawa seji suit acting. I like the he motivate his siblings and he has alot badass moments. Like the moment when they fought those three demons that was spreading there feather across the city and until dawn, if the blow up people will die. When red had the rescue bird canon, full on direct towards the monster. He was basically calling him a pussy and red took a chance and shot him. I think that was done way more better than PR. Pink- Matsuri is the girly girl but I like more because she shines a lot whenever the episode about her. Dana was serious and strong and I like how she was involved in the 6th ranger past but Matsuri to me seem to be more appealing. Blue- Chad actually has a good profession that fits with being on the blue ranger but his profession is not really involved well with him being the blue ranger at all (although his actor is great martial artist). Nagare on the other hand is from the department that is responsible for extinguishing fire as well as being involve in other science invention. This has helped him in that field of being go blue. Green- Shou is not bad but Joel is just a fun and much more charismatic character than Go green. Yellow- Kelsey is good and strong but she's kind of forgettable. Daimon is definitely the hot headed reckless little brother but what I like about him is that his mistakes challenges him. Like the time he accidentally shot a kid when he was fighting a monster. In that episode, you get a sense that Daimon was going through a struggle and was wondering if he is skilled enough to do the job; what this does that it shows the viewers that being a public servant or a cop, you can fuck. I like how matoi eventually comes in tell his younger brother that he can only move on and learn from his flaw. The drama is done much better in Go Go V. I also think that the Go Go V profession makes more sense for them actually being rescuers rather than light speed rescue which like two or 3 them. Villains better. However, I will say that Light speed rescue had a much better ending thatn GGV, sentai own just felt like they didn't give a fuck coming to the end, which makes it feel like a major as pull. Overall, Go Go V is the better series in my opinion when I look at it from a story perspective.

It's not simply just GoRed decides to go full on direct towards the monster with Life Bird on 1 hand & V-Machine Gun on the other. You have to look at the back story(spoilers alert for those who have not & want to watch GoGoFive) when GoRed & his whole team, or rather all his siblings, failed their mission to defeat the 3 monsters before dusk & saving the city, thus causing great explosions from the feathers around the city. Upon suffering a crushing defeat, & facing failure to save the city, it wrecked the team's whole confidence, even GoRed as well, tho he refused to admit & show his fears in front of his siblings & rather put on a brave front. GoRed eventually recognised his fears, remembering how he had the same fears when rescuing a pregnant civilian before, but braved it all knowing that if there's 1 life that needs to be saved, he'll still do it. It's all of these, all the more made GoRed determine to save the city, even if he had to braved the fears, going full on direct towards the monster.

Good Review. Both great series but I also agree on the opinions. The professions from the Sentai were more organic to the story but I found the Lightspeed Rangers were more memorable. Green was the perfect example. Joel was cocky, but the actor added this charm to the character which also made him likeable. And completely agree with Yellow. Kelsey would have been far more interesting as a Police Officer.

Lightspeed Rescue was an ok season. I do love that we got our first American made Ranger, wish he had more appearances though, but hey what can you do

Thanks Marcus for edit it and make the comparison between Dinas and Vypra and very on point. I like Go Go V better because of the bond between the siblings from both rangers and evil side, plus to stay more true with the rescue theme. And yep, on lighspeed rescue sometimes it felt they recruted people for American Ninja Warrior, not for a rescue team (Yellow in particular).

Between this and your GoGoFive review, you've convinced me to (re)watch both seasons down the line (I haven't seen GoGoFive yet). To play Monday Morning Quarterback, this just came to me, I think a good way to adapt the "family dynamic" of GoGoV into Lightspeed without making them related would for all of them to have been dropouts from Terra Venture in Lost Galaxy. Like, they were part of a training unit and there was a big final exam to test their skills, but one or two of them screwed up, which caused the whole team to fail and go back to their daily lives. That way you can still get in the "working through our dysfunctionalities" dynamic in to clash with the dysfunctionalities of the Demons. Plus, it gives more of an excuse to recruit Kelsey other than "she's a mountain climbing/extreme sports expert," lol

Carter is the "Shoot first, ask questions later" character archetype done right. Instead of being loud and hyperactive like Japan tends to do with such characters (looking at you, Banban! >:C), he's serious and stoic.

Lightspeed Rescue has always been my favorite season of Power Rangers and probably always will be. I've never seen GoGo V, but I think I'll probably check it out after I finish Dairanger. Nice video btw - you guys are definitely one of my favorite KZread channels. Keep it up! (Edit) I will also add this: a great way to make the choice for Kelsey more valid is make her a forest ranger or a mountain rescue specialist. Anything besides the extreme sports specialist that she was.

And I actually did enjoyed watching GoGo-V. But, I'm sorry, I did not like the finale at all. But the team-up with Seijuu Sentai Gingaman was a lot better than "Trakeena's Revenge", in my opinion. Mainly because.... *THERE'S NO FREAKIN' CHILD CHARACTER GETTING IN THE WAY OF THE DAMN TEAM-UP AND TAKING UP ALL THE FOCUS FROM THE REAL STARS OF THE PROJECT!!!*

They want to see the adult superheroes interact with each other!* Toqger vs. Kyoryuger was even worse because of the inclusion in the child actors as the Toqgers' true forms during the god-awful second act filler plot and the fact that the Kyoryugers had little to no screen-time in their own damn crossover with the train dorks.

Chad was an actual badass. not as good as Carter, but I still remember the episode with the cyborg rangers, and the general was gonna take their morphers, and he sent some guards to get them. Chad took the guys arm and STARES HIM DOWN. If it weren't for captain mitchell's interference, he would have fought him.

I do wanna watch GoGoV at some point, but Lightspeed Rescue is my favorite season of PR ever! I love the suits, I love the characters, I love the action, I love the zords. Only real problem is the weaksauce main villains.

Well if you watch the episode called The Fifth Crystal you'll see why Kelsey is useful. That episode shows that she's quick on her feet and very agile and I think that's very useful to the team.

i love your adamant disapproval of mountain climber is great, i like lightspeed rescue, but its always been my favorite power rangers series!!!

You guys should do a rant about the neo saban era. And by you guys, I mean Marcus. The last rant he did alone was glorious.

Can't speak much on GoGoV, other than the opening, which i feel ties Lightspeed Rescue. I Loved Lightspeed Rescue personally, it was my first ever Ranger series and still a personal favorite to this day, with Carter Grayson being one of my most beloved Reds period. Story was eh at some points, but great characters, awesome actions, some of the best mechs. I definitely feel Lightspeed deserves more love

I think light speed yellows profession was more extreme athlete cause you know cause late 90s/early 2000s was all about EXTREME but mostly since she can adapt to changing obstacles

I'd say Lightspeed Rescue had the better finale than GoGo-V, in my opinion. The only gripes I had with Lightspeed Rescue are Vypra's acting, the Red Ranger's battlizer and the team-up with Lost Galaxy. But other than that...I actually had fun watching this season.

I always like to and have always put Lightspeed/GoGo V on the same level as Lost Galaxy/GingaMan and to me they are are the reverse in quality between sentai and power rangersIMO..lost galaxy is so much better GingaMan and Go Go V blows lightspeed outta the water.

So i absolutely love light speed rescue it was the show that was airing when i was growing up. and they will always be my favorite which unfortunately meant gogoV didn't have a chance of being liked better by me. don't get me wrong i absolutely liked the family dynamic and that the villains where also siblings. but i thought their father was a tool and i always enjoyed light speed rescue more! so gogoV was ok to me but Lightspeed rescue will forever remain my favorite! (nostalgia is a major factor in my decision lol )

I always sort of appreciated the Pink Ranger goes to be a model episode. And full honesty this is definitely me adding subtext that the show doesn't acknowledge or care about. Like here's this woman who has been raised to fight this threat and has been fine with it up until now until someone else gives her another option and she finally gets to consider do I actually want to do this or am I just doing it because I'm supposed to.

I liked both the rangers in one were better by which i mean light speed. the villains were great in both I liked the fights and the costumes for monsters and villains I feel each did a better job with some things I liked lightspeeds mentor better

I think it's because Power Rangers has always liked to have diverse cast & besides them just saying that they were all adopted siblings it wouldn't work with each of the actors being different races. To my understanding Japan's population is mostly pure Japanese with not many people who are mixed with like Mexican, African, White ect. So it's easier for them to do a season where everyone is "related". Also why should the ranger season copy exactly what the sentai did anyways, they should be changing as much as they can to be more original. Plus each of those ranger seasons did/do in some way still include the family relations with Dana, Ryan & Captain Mitchell, then Madison & Vida, also Nick & his parents, & now Brody his brother & their father.

@Ahmed Bugshan: I think it has something to do with the bad U.S. history coming from the Kennedy Family in particular. I mean, do you really want to connect a history with a bad political family to a show like Power Rangers?! Besides, making the Lightspeed Rangers all part of the same family or making them adopted siblings just won't work for the actors since they're technically from different ethnicity. Just because Japan can get away with making several of its sentai teams be apart of the same respective family, whether they're ninjas or wizards or teachers, doesn't mean we gotta do the same thing here in America. Okay?! Power Rangers is *NOT* Super Sentai. Also, if you look at Japan as a country, there's is like so very little diversity over there. I mean, the entire population is so homogeneous that you hardly see any Caucasian characters or characters of color over there. Oh and in Ninninger (the sentai that was adapted into Ninja Steel), the team only consist of two siblings born from the same father and three cousins. Two, who for some reason is in some kind of a sick incest relationship, namely Blue and Pink. Seriously, is that something you want to see happen in Power Rangers?!

So, what makes you think that Power Rangers would be any different if they did decided to have a ranger team that consisted of adopted siblings of different ethnicities?!

Eh, a standard beat cop doesn't exactly bring that much to the table vs a professional extreme sports athlete when you're dealing with "fighting in hand to hand combat literal demons with the intent to destroy them" Like Kelsey, and her background and physical skills brings a level of physicality, agility, comfortable in tight spots and repelling to rescue people and go spinning around fighting a demon the next min that a beat cop... just doesn't have. What does the average cop bring to the table? A bit of firearms training? I mean I'm not trying to rag on cops here (as popular as it is to be "acab" online, I don't agree with that at all) Just saying it doesn't make much more sense to make Kelsey a cop anymore than to have her be a professional Extreme Sports athlete...

lightspeed was a middle of the road show, it's not bad but it's not really that good either and it certainly isn't that memorable other than Ryan.

So GGV kept getting better and LS rescue turned to shit, lol you guys really should rewatch the PR series, JS.

GoGo5 way better.. all sentai's were better then their power rangers equivalent....... power rangers were good but Sentai had better story telling and characters...

I've got to disagree, most of the saban era can't really be compared to source material anyway, but Zeo, In Space, and Lost galaxy are great and arguably better than the source material. the Disney era was consistently on point, but not really better or worse than sentai, except for operation overdrive, which sucked. then RPM came and blew Go-Onger out of the water. Neo-Saban has not been very good however.
