Brilliant improvisational monologue by Dr. Carr bringing Haiti to its rightful place in the past, present and future of the world.....

Dr. Carr yeeted CTG. I wish Samkofa was available as a DVD. Being on Netflix is a double-edged sword. We need this film available for personal libraries. Not everyone has or wants a streaming service.

Good afternoon talented duo and I'm excited to learn something new. UPDATE; Wow, did I learn something today, from Independent Flim Makers to " The Real Deal" on our Hiatian Crisis. I even ordered some of the books Dr. Carr referenced from the Sankofa Bookstore in DC. This education will lift us from the " decolonization" mindset to the highest level of living that our ancestors paid for us because WE are their hopes and dreams!
I paused this class and watched "Sankofa" for the first time today. Very impactful! I love this Movement!!!!

Interesting about drones as slaves. Also, up until very recently I thought the Stormtroopers were robots. I only began to feel sorry for them for being killed by the rebels when the brother played a role as a stormtrooper and I realized they were actual people. I still have some unpacking to do but that demonstrated from me how powerful narrative is. I read the narrative a certain way and that changes my understanding profoundly.
Baba Mel van Peebles is one of the greatest ever film directors of all time as well as an actor. He will be sorely missed. Mama Karen you are off to 🇬🇭in two years time. Am off to 🇬🇭and 🇧🇴next year. Baba Greg I want your intelligence.

I Just like to salute Professor Hunter and Doctor carr for the great service thats had been done with such grace and humility and love for our people I am thoroughly inspired! and relating to our ancestors cannot be stressed enough!
I will be traveling with my Nubia family.❤
I had the honor of serving as the Herstorian for The Black Women’s Association for Black Unity (BWABU) of Rutgers University when we along with the 100 Black Men of RU and The Paul Robeson Cultural Center invited Mr. Gerima and Ms. Oyafunmike Ogunlano (Shola/Mona) to screen Sankofa for the whole New Brunswick community at Rutgers Student Center. It was a packed house including the children who were our mentees. That was in ‘94 or ‘95. Mr. Gerima had to physically carry the film copy he had and we had to rent a projector to play it. WOW! Times have truly changed. I am so grateful for Mr. Gerima’s work. I am prayerful that we may be able to set up a Zoom q&a with the Scholars of Sankofa Freedom Academy this school year.
I Remember thinking 30 years ago that Haile Gerima with his cogent insights must have been from the Carib or that conscious belt in the South American continent..Taught me a lesson about my own limited awareness of the diaspora. I always appreciated that he put Min. Akbar in the film to cement another unique connection to Black Americans.....
Greetings saw SANKOFA in Greensboro at the Body Ecology store. The collective gathered and it was a lesson we all weather we have been to any of the last dungeons made for us by the eurasians were, it still bought a thing to light for us all and them. Rest gently Bro Melvin Van Peebles.
Karen and carr that movie sankafo was very good wow and love music in the beginning black library is in class today

“The power of whiteness is in its invisibility” That also goes for immigration. While we argue about Hispanic/Latino immigration vs Black (and Asian) immigration very few are focused on white immigrants. I keep pointing out my shock at encountering high number of Russian immigrants in my area. White immigrants (including and especially UNDOCUMENTED) get to live low key undisturbed lives in America.

Melania…. She has a whole bunch of girlfriends that come here and have babies. They pay 100+ grand to stay in trump’s hotel in Miami and once the baby is here, it’s a citizen. They never talk about deporting them or anything! So u’r absolutely right on how they treat the white immigrants!
Another great Africana Studies Lesson! Thank You Dr Carr and Professor Hunter ❤️❤️❤️
Hotep Dr. Karen and Dr. Carr. I just watched Sankofa, by the incredible Haile Gerima, and it was an excellent reminder, in part, of where I am in overstanding myself. I’m an average black man, meaning, I am an Afrikan warrior (take that with an Afrikan ear on our frequency 1 and not a Eurasian/colonized ear). Ever sense I can remember, I have had a quiet rage sitting right next to my Pineal gland that never lets me forget the atrocities that my incredible ancestors endured to even make my birth possible, let alone become reality. That quiet rage sits there dormant but available to tap into when the time comes. It lets me know that I am sane because it exists in me. I believe that all Afrikans in our diaspora have it and some of us don’t even realize it. It’s not the remanence of PTSS (Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome) it’s more of an internal process of Afrikan reciprocity. It lets us know that Afrikan reciprocity is coming, and that nothing can stop it. I may not see the fruition of said reciprocity in my lifetime, but I know that it is inevitable. It is what it is. Thank you for yet another brilliant podcast and I take comfort in knowing that there will be more to come. Ase’
Once again I tune in and find myself enriched !!!!! Gracias

Thank you Karen Hunter and Dr. Carr for your wealth of knowledge and information…I need a spare brain😊
Dr. Carr broke down the U. S. relationship with Haiti. Most of the time we make assumptions without having all of the information. Thanks for your critical perspective on reality.

We always present and accounted for.
She's creating art as a function differently, and then, putting it to work through the high intuitive competence of what appears to be misanthropic and artistic engineers, but a deeper look demonstrates it is way beyond expectations.

When you know history the present becomes so clear! Damn
It took me a minute to find the film on Netflix as I was only able to find it by searching the filmmakers name and not the title which I believe it should be. Brought a feeling of “need to watch” just because of that.
Thanks to Sister Karen Hunter and Dr.Greg Carr.(THE HUMAN GOOGLE) I'm a little smarter every Saturday listening to you both. Prayers,Blessings, and Protection to you both from the creator and our ancestors .The suffering of our people (Black)world wide maybe long but not forever. As my late mother would say.
