In An Instant (Child Safety Film - Dangers of Corded Blinds)

*NEW CHILD SAFETY COURSES COMING SOON* www.onedecisioncourses.com
"In An Instant" is a reenactment on how quickly children can strangle on window covering cords. No one was harmed in the making of this film.
These accidents are so silent, children can strangle in the same room with a caregiver. Children die in less that 1 minute.
Parents for Window Blind Safety, founded in 2002, was created to support parents whose children have been seriously injured or killed by cords. PFWBS has become the nation's foremost advocacy group for window covering safety.
Please join our cause by sharing this film with everyone you know!
Live Safe...Go Cordless.

    I know its sad but no ones really appreciating how amazing this was made, how it was such an instant tear jerker, and how amazing the actors were, even the kids were magnificent at it. the creativity on writing this script, how sensitive this topic was but yet they tackled it in a beautiful and emotional way to get it out there because more people should know about this and how serious it is. Congratulations to everyone know made this and/or helped to make this. you did an amazing, terrific job at this. Well done. :)

    I've never responded to an accident like this, but I have been to other scenes where kids have been asphyxiated. I've also been to a couple where kids fell through windows. They weren't bad people or negligent parents, it was just something they never considered needing to worry about.

    Stick Best 21 kids! My goodness!! That's insane! She is the epitome of the little old lady who lived in a shoe. Most of these accidents happened because the parents thought following safety tips was enough and found out too late that is was not enough. That is what happened to me. I tied up my cords out of my daughters reach but she still died. She managed to create a loop from the cord that runs in between the slats of the blind. She hung herself on that. It was horrifying. #GoCordless

    Install shutters. For a little extra buck, they're classy and prevent incidents like this one from every happening. In itself, this video truly is devastating and very few parents consider the effects that corded blinds have on harming their own children. Keeping even the closest eye on children will still not guarantee the possibility of a tragedy such as this one from occurring. So parents love & cherish your children every moment you can.

    Everything is potentially dangerous and has the ability to hurt you. Your kid bangs his/her head on a round corner at a certain angle they can die. So... are you gonna sue Ikea for this? Are you gonna sue plastic bag companies because a child decided to suffocate him/herself with it? You might and you probably will. But you will NOT win the case because you have poor parenting. Who can expect these types of things to happen? Prevention over treatment so be good parents.

  • @ParentsforWindowBlindSafety

    @ParentsforWindowBlindSafety

    8 жыл бұрын

    +lupinearsenalALT Yes, everything is potentially dangerous and if we have the technology today to make things safer, then let's do it. We have been doing it for years. Seat belts save lives, car seats save lives, kill switches on riding mowers prevent severe injuries, even garage doors have safety switches on them. If we said NO to all of this we would still have thousands of these deaths and injuries per year. It's the same thing. Its not a supervisory issue or a user issue, the fact is long cords are hazardous and should not be in homes hanging from windows. They kill kids, the facts and data prove it. Poor parenting would be keeping these hazardous products in your home and gambling whether or not your child would or would not be the next victim.

    I cried, holyy! What a great film! ...thinking of another video I watched before about Eric Clapton's toddler son who accidentally fell out of his mother's apartment window...those cords could also pose as a life line if an unattended child was playing near a window....NOT that I am saying to teach them that. Just watch your children more closely, parents and get RID of blinds , replace them with shades. Roman shades are easy to make if you can't afford them.

    You are very lucky. In many cases it is so silen that kids have strangled to death in the same room as the caregiver. We highly recommend that you either replace your corded blinds with something cordless or have your current blinds retrofitted. For more info on safe window coverings visit parentsforwindowblindsafety.com

    Not lucky, blessed. The blind cord was up higher, too, and he knows better.. but was trying to be a ninja...ugh. yes, we are changing the blinds! Most people don't realize that older kids could get hurt, too. Scary.
