This movie was weirdly like watching someone play that Friday the 13th game from a few years back.
Brad: I would probably watch... Me: Maniac Brad: Silent Night, Deadly Night Me: Well, I guess that works, but I prefer Maniac.

I'm actually surprised this kind of movie wasn't made earlier.
This looks like an interesting time. Thanks for the review Brad!

Brad raised a funny question: do slasher-flick killers HAVE to pee or poop like mortals?

“Everybody Poops” starring Jason Voorhees.
I enjoyed it thoroughly too. Maybe I wouldn't have like 4 years ago but thankfully I've developed a taste for slower, ponderous films and also got into hiking big time so in a way life has lined up for me to really get what this one was putting down.
So Gus Van Sant directed this?

The director of this did mention Gus Van Sant as an inspiration specifically his films Gerry, Elephant and Last of Days
Johnny going to become a popular character to cosplay at conventions just like Art the Clown.

Both pretty generic copy and paste of other characters.
Great review man. I got to see this last night at the theaters and I had a blast with it. I feel like they kind of called out terrifier in the movie. Shots fired
This is what happened with adapting Friday the 13th game in film format and i like it alot.
Behind the Mask: Leslie Vernon is probably the best version of these "from the killer's p.o.v.
Seeing a screening tonight
Seeing this tonight. Can't wait
Going tomorrow to see this and i cant wait !! Also guess whos back ??!! Back again !!??.....
I loved it. Now that its on vod and you can watch at home, the best viewing experiemce is with headphones. The sound design is off the charts here. Loved the carnage. Has One of the best on and off screen kills you can find. (Yoga and the overhead shot) plus like brad said there are a few moments where you will be asking yourself how did they actually do that?
I'm a bit slow to watch slashers anymore, but it sounds like I'd really like this one for the perspective flip and the relative quiet moments.
Seeing this tomorrow. Can't wait.
I saw this movie last week, and I thought it was okay. I probably could have waited until it was streaming on Shudder, but it was still pretty decent.
When I heard someone puked during a screening, I was even more sold.
I wasn't even aware this movie was showing at my local theater until about 6 hours ago. Decided to catch a viewing right after I left work. No one else showed up to see it, so it was basically a private screening to some degree. Had a good time watching it. The kills were engineered well, particularly one I won't mention. Overall the film isn't mind-blowing, but mad respect to them for at least trying to make something different. Not sure if everyone will enjoy it though.
I was interested in seeing this, definitely want to now!
I can't wait to see it.
This movie has the makings of a varsity athlete
You can kind of tell what's gonna happen based on the progress bar
The legacy of The Shape is still as strong as ever.
It reminds me of Skinamarink in the sense that it has an overly pretentious lack of context it’s passing off as something “artistically subversive”. Though WAY more happens in this than in Skinamarink. I’m sorry but making me stare at a dudes back walking through the woods for 70% of a movie is not interesting, scary, or anything really. The kills were fairly gruesome, I’ll give it that, but there’s nothing else in this movie worth watching. The ending especially was frustrating, I kept waiting and waiting for them to get to a point only for the credits to pop up as if saying ‘Fuck you, thanks for your time and money you’ll never get back’
I wanted to like it but man...there was a lot of downtime. Liked the kills, though, and I like a lot of the shots and the idea.
I was straight up bored with this movie
I saw it last night, and I shared much of the same sentiments, particularly regarding the scenes that seem to go on much too long and should've been cut down. Then there are moments when the movie cuts and things happen that get no explanation. At one point, a character is running from the killer through the woods for seemingly the entire night, only to jump-cut to the next morning, showing that she has inexplicably sustained a severely gnarly wound to the leg. The movie never shows us how she got it. Yet the movie also took the time to show us the killer using logging equipment to slowly dismember someone. Just the choices of what the movie felt was necessary or unnecessary to show didn't make much sense at times. The ending also lands with bit of a thud. You expect a little more of a struggle, but it doesn't really happen. Trying to avoid spoilers here, but a character kinda just nopes out without a fight. Understandable? Sure. But it still felt anticlimactic.

The ending was the only part I was really disappointed with. Like Brad says it just went on and on. I was on edge of my seat in the sense that I kept expecting something to happen. However, there was no payoff for how long it went on.
I can't believe you missed the part when he took a piss. 😂
For the most part, I had a lot of fun. Johnny was good and the other characters were just horrible and hated the dialogue. Plus, about the last 20 minutes, I was boring as hell.
The log splitter was very disappointing

If only this had some damn screenings near me. Nothing at the Cinemarks.

I prefer you to the snob. You should review cade
Taking the kids to see this tomorrow
Makes me think of all the Violent Shit movies you review
Give the director credit for the idea, but some stuff just didnt work. The ending was an awful build up that didnt work for me. I can see people in audience laugh at all the walking
Honestly this would’ve been a good video game 😂
I felt it could’ve leaned way more into the Friday the 13th aspect of it truly wanted to go that route. Felt more like a 70’s exploitation with a Jason type killer.
At the end when he was approaching the final victim and she was on her knees begging for her life, and Johnny finally spoke, saying "It's Morbin' time!" My theater broke into wild cheers and applause.

Did she remind him of their shared history? That he was in the Amazon with her mom when she was researching spiders just before she died?
Worst movie I've ever seen. It's like violent shit but with a budget.
It sucks . Im a slasher fan , trust me- booring as f. Maybe good for gullible hipsters , A24 ya know , but my nephew ( 18 )agreed . We left halfway in.
Your take was wild. It was a horrible movie. The killer walking was literally 40 minutes of the movie. Thats not creative its stupid. Just because it goes against the rules doesn't mean its good. I cannot believe there is any positivity towards this dumpster fire. The gore looked fake as hell. If you thought this was a “good time” then you probably think the same of getting robbed.

What are you talking about with this juvenile crap of people with different perceptions from you enjoying being robbed? I hate pickled relish but I don't think anyone who likes it deserves getting beat up, let alone enjoys it. People are allowed to have different opinions than you. Their's no right or wrong. Grow up!

It's a lot of fun tbh, but it's ostensibly two movies. There's everything outside of the killings which is a perfectly fine if not overwrought build up of tension, and then the killers which are objectively so over the top that they're comedic in nature.
This movie has p0rn level performances
No movie is perfect, dude
