A lot of umbrellas and capes are made out of that, some with higher quality have Teflon, so they would protect you from most acids, even if they were more aggressive that what they showed in this movie. 🙂

Acid is a catch all term. Not all acid is reactive to every substance otherwise it wouldnt be possible to store/transport it. Somehow all the trees and vegetation has withstood it. Same withe concrete/tar covered roads.

Acid rain is a real thing, but it’s not acidic enough to cause burns on contact. I don’t think this is possible unless it’s concentrated sulfuric or nitric acid.
