Dropout houses so much unique improv based content. Today I am looking at Very Important People, hosted by Vic Michaelis.

Re: Vic's treatment of the crew vs treatment of the guests - It's implied throughout the series that Vic (the character) aspires to be a serious journalist, but instead is stuck doing a show that keeps booking all these weirdos. I think they're so hard on the crew because it's misplaced frustration re: being unable to break out of the situation.

Yeah, she clearly doesn't respect the job she has now so I don't think she respects the crew working it. This is a crew stuck working for a local broadcast interviewing weirdos, if the crew was good and worthy of respect in Vic's eyes they would be working for a better organization. And Vic is a hypocrite so she doesn't recognize the fact that she is also stuck there.
brennan and zach's episodes are next level

Vic actually did say in an interview with ProducerLiz that the character motivation for "Vic the host" was "I want to be a successful reporter". The interview is on KZread, this character grounding was mentioned at about 12m50 into the interview.
it would be awesome to see your reaction to zac oyama’s unique mix of minimalist approach to comedy and highly detailed space work!

The first one was kinda tough to get through for me, but the rest are 10/10 and are super well paced too in terms of episodes
I love how in the comments everyone has different favorite episodes. I can say that I am still most impressed by Lisa Gilroy episode as Vic’s ex-stepgrandmother
There's a pretty good improv group I've been watching here on youtube, called Shoot From The Hip, and they do both long and short form. I definitely recommend their improvised plays.

Seconded - those guys are great!
The last episode is nuts lol.

Idk as far as Brennan lee mulligan bits go it seems pretty normal and grounded
Love to see Vehiculars first interview
I would love to see the Augbert episode reacted to, it's so different then the others in the best way possible.

I agree. It feels like a writer's brainstorming session being acted out in real time as the two of them figure out together what the hell is going on.

I have to say I think Izzy’s episode took the cake for me. It was just perfection.

Her (SPOILER) calling Vic "Vehicular" absolutely ruined me. I had to pause the episode to laugh because it was that good. Izzy Roland is an absolute genius.
I feel like it's unlikely you've never watched SnapCube Real Time Fandub, but if by chance you haven't... you absolutely have to react to it.

specifically the Sonic Adventure 2 ones. First the "Hero Story," then the "Dark Story" immediately after. Ideally back to back, as they are two halves of the same story. The Dark Story one is the funnier of the two, but it's pretty much necessary to watch the Hero Story first, as that's the order they recorded them in (because that's the order the storylines are played in the game) so there are references and callbacks and stuff between the two videos. They are really intended as two halves of the same video, imo
There’s a lot of good episodes I honestly like a lot of them, I think some of them can be slow burns or not as back to back hilarious but all have unique themes and fun moments. Also episodes are filmed and released out of order - the behind the scenes explains how some are filmed and thought to be good and kept till another release date such as Brennans performance. But sometimes you can tell if things are a little out of order based on Vic’s plot points. (Her guest house or child has a lot of references)
This as the first episode is wild bc I still hum the songs in the episode like why are they so good 😭😭😭🥸🥸
Zac's episode (Tommy Shriggly) is probably my favourite episode of this but all of them are absolutely brilliant

I cried laughing watching that episode. Absolutely phenomenal.
I loved this show! Dropout honestly never misses with its new show concepts!
The algorithm recently fed me the Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists podcasts/videos, not sure if you've seen them, but I've lost many, many hours this week lost in their long form improv! Maybe check some out for the channel? Both "The Look" episodes are hilarious and the one with Vic, Nance in France!
I am once again requesting a Teletubbies reunion breakdown 🤩
My absolute favorite episode of VIP so far is Denzel, because c!Vic gets so fed up with him towards the end
I always love watching your reactions to these because I come away having learned something. I'd love to see you react to Snatch Game from Rupauls Drag Race, particularly Jinkx Monsoon. Snatch game takes people at all levels of improv ability and puts them together which is an interesting dynamic to watch.

Ooo Snatch Game is such a fun idea
I subbed to Dropout for D20 but stayed for Vic. I just adore them 😂 Loved listening to you love them too.
This is like a longer, higher quality Hello, My Name Is from the old College Humor days
Just so you know, Vic Michaelis prefers they/them pronouns. Vic's title card at the start does say they/she, but everyone at Dropout exclusively refers to Vic using they/them.
I literally cannot stop thinking bit about where princess Emily is from.
You simply must react to Brennan's VIP episode, Augbert. He not only makes the strongest choice I've seen from him, but together with Vic delivers the wildest episode of the season. There's a reason Dropout saved it for last.
I requested this and am so happy you did THIS episode!!! It’s my absolute fav
Please do Leighanna-Jean Gruthers or Denzel next those are some of my faves they’re hilarious.
Absolutely love VIP and I can’t wait for s2 of it!! I’d love to see you react to Choose Our Destiny its also long form improv. Its so incredibly funny, I cry laughing at it. My favorite eps are Holiday Fun Ride and Sleepover Slasher!
Why do I actually love the song unironically 😭. It’s so catchy 😂
Ayy the timing on this is wild I just binged this whole show yesterday
I love this show, and really appreciate your insight and commentary! If I were in a highspeed car chase, I'd blast Princess Emily tracks too
Denzel, Izzy, and Brennan are great, I would love if you would react to those
Incredible video, continue to make more! ❤
If you want some really amazing improv that you could give a lot of comments on and really analyze, I would recommend the s4 episode of Game Changer called Official Cast Recording. Its a musical episode but their improv abilities are CRAZY so it'd be very interesting to talk about and point out all their techniques in that ep
Dropout has such good content! One of the very few streaming services I pay for these days. Thanks for watching them!
The excitement of seeing a reaction video to Dropout in general, and then it being VIP?! I felt things, And the video being good too
Please do Mountport
yes!! pleas more!!
love your reactions and educational perspective! new viewer here and i def would be interested to watch you react to more of dropouts amazing catalogue! great video. (also, just to reiterate, vic uses they/them pronouns too ^^) also def about your comments on "vic the host", this show is as good as it is because of vic's amazing grounding to reality and yet ability to fully go for the bit and be earnest the entire time. vic is one of my fave dropout talents and im so happy they confirmed a season 2! even if not for a reaction vid you should def watch the whole series bc its great, easily my fave dropout program of all time
This is one of my favorite episodes along with the three little pigs and little clap ones.
This video was so fun, but I do want to do a gentle reminder that Vic's pronouns are they/she indicating they prefer they to be used more than she, so it's okay to say she, but not exclusively.
Would love to see you react to the shoot from the hip channel
Which episodes of VIP have you seen? What has been your favorite one so far? (I liked the episode with Ross and Rashawn. Highly recommend it if you haven't seen it).
i wanted to see a follow up of this Vic on ecstacy
Middleditch and Schwartz on Netflix is some of my favourite long-form improv that’s available to stream, it’s just 3 episodes (unrelated to each other) of Ben Schwartz and Thomas Middleditch improvising for an hour on an event they get from an audience member. I feel like I learned So much about long-form from them but I would love to see a more professional analysis of one of the episodes! The first two episodes are my favourites, the first is about a wedding and the second is kinda ET meets breakfast club and they’re both hysterical
Would love to see the Izzy episode of VIP
YES!
Right in the heart of the smack of the dab. Augbert is one of best/weirdest episodes.
pleaseeeee react to all of the VIP series! But especially ify and Zac’s episodes!
Waiting on the review of “welcome to mountport”
I think I've rewatched Princess Emily and Zac's meathead a dozen times.
have you watched play it by ear from dropout too?
I watch it to see them break out of the character from time to time.
You have to watch the season finale, it’s Brennans episode and it’s so hilarious!
I really love that Dropout exists as a platform. Katelyn Berrios - 2024
You should watch the, OTV learns improv, video next.
ally's episode is too funny
Hey, could I recommend you watch Shoot From The Hip? They do improvised plays and they're so hilarious, I think you'd enjoy them!
We need your reactions to Brennan and Zac.
I was wondering how you shut someone down in a funny way while keeping the scene momentum
Dropout is one of the few places in hollywood that isn't run by capitalist douchebags.
You should react to Lisa's episode, it's kinda insane, but it's so good.
Would love you to react to ep1 of Smartypants on Dropout
React to Zac's very important people + maybe Emily's Hilda Hilda Clip
Adult Rainbow Bright
You should react to the episodes of Lisa, Izzy or Brennan, for me those are the best of this season 🤌🏼✨✨
Could you maybe please do some drawfee videos they are a group of illustrators and animators who combine art with improv. They’re my favorite channel.
It just hit me that the mistreatment of the true but approval seeking of the guest could be somewhat based on a combination of...recent events...with talk show hosts
HI! Just a reminder that Vic uses they/she pronouns, so they should be used pretty interchangeably.
@rishabhpb
Ай бұрын
Doesn't interchangeable mean that either is fine as opposed to saying they should be interchanged? I've never heard that rule
@ahlimahs
Ай бұрын
They/she means that they is the preferred pronoun but they will accept she as well
@namfow
Ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure Vic has said that they put they/she on things like the name card to head off the unfortunate inevitable misgenderings that will happen, but their preferred pronouns are they/them.
@15two
Ай бұрын
it depends on the person, im nonbinary and use they/she/he. i dont mind if someone exclusively one set of pronouns for me because it might make more sense for them to stick with one consistently. other people might feel differently about how their pronouns are used though
@camannwordsmith
Ай бұрын
Vic has said they prefer "they," but do not mind "she."
*I* hate your cats not being allowed into your office when you film.
Haven't watched all the way through yet but just head up, vic uses they/them pronouns ✌🏻
