Improving Your Gait & Why It's Important

Спорт

PTs will often analyze your gait by watching you get up and walk across the room, but most of the time we are analyzing your gait as soon as you walk into the clinic. If you have been diagnosed with gait abnormalities, these stretches and exercises might help.
There are also tests that can be performed like the 6-minute walk test to see how far you can walk in that time. But there are also more high-tech ways of analyzing your gait like walking on a treadmill with sensors on your body while a camera records you.
The way we walk can predict many things. Some of these things include gross motor delays in children, fall risks in older adults, and even the risk of dementia.
It also might indicate other health issues like premature mortality, cardiovascular disease, or cancer, according to a July 2018 meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association (www.jamda.com/article/S1525-8.... The meta-analysis covered 44 studies with a combined 101,945 participants.

Hi doctor jo what are the best exercise for foot drop pt and how much time it takes to complete treat a patient

I've had partial numbness in the feet for a month after a back injury (pinched nerve a month before that). Foot numbness got worse a few weeks ago after a bad side plank. Guess my gait isn't that great now in the house in slippers. Walking in shoes outside's easier. Wish I had a doctor I could see. Tried chiro. Good vid.

For some reason my left knee 'pops' backwards when I put weight on it while I'm walking. I can't control it. It's like the muscle fires late or something. Or almost like my knee is slightly bent and not straight when going forward so when it lands it pops back.

How to modify the rolling onto toes for these exercises? I have arthritic big toe and medial joint area?? I’ve been unable to raise up on tip toes for a long time.

You're welcome. It would depend on if they are not equal due to an alignment issue, or if it's a true leg length difference.

Unfortunately, I don't know that answer since I can't evaluate you. Everyone is different. If there is any way you can see a physical therapist in person, they should be able to help you figure out a specific program for you and help answer your questions.
