Improve your balance when walking with *THIS* one trick

Finally feel steady on your feet when walking again! 🚶🏼‍♀️
If you feel unstable when walking or lack confidence in your abilities- you need this one simple trick to help you. There is one mistake that I see many people making who aren't aware they are even doing it. The problem is, simply standing on one leg isn't enough to improve balance when walking. The solution? To add an additional challenge to your balance exercises such as adding arm movements, closing your eyes and/or completing exercises on an uneven surface.

Your video on balance exercises at home is excellent. Our clinic performs data metrics on balance especially for seniors, and your absolutely right to add more arm movements in the corner to allow the brain to get more comfortable with changes in positions, therefore improving your response time if you feel unstable. Thank you for these amazing tips for your viewers.

Because of a tragic all on frozen concrete in 2003, I started using a walker, then 2 canes. But I have completely lost my equilibrium or blance.I feel stupid being days away from 76 and having had such an active walking & moving life. I hope to use your program and any others because I feel like a little child, first learning to walk alone without mommy's hand. Thank you! I have an active mind and a body that has danced, climbed on things, lifted and walked at the same time, and used to swim every day.

Thanks for some additional balance exercises to add to regime. Closing eyes is a biggy for me I discovered just how much I relied on vision for stability. Also had me realize why I get a fear of falling when looking out and down from a height, even steps with gaps between used to disorientate me if I looked at the space not step.

Hi Alyssa. Thank you! What is the name of the sneaker that you said was good for Arthritis? I was just diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right hip. I now I find that knee is starting to hurt. Or I should say is stiff. Thanks for all of your videos. I’m trying to get an organized plan on where to start. You are appreciated.

Thank you. I have titanium implants in my big toes. My toes are also shorter now because of the surgery and the 2nd toe is much longer. Also, both big toes float about 1/3" off the floor when standing and most of walking. This effects my balance greatly. As I age (I'm 71) and I worry about falling because of my bad balance. Any advise?

Standing on a thick exercise pad (sometimes called a yoga pad) is a great exercise. It improves balance and strengthens the feet and ankle muscles. Do it barefoot AND with shoes.

Nice try, but I can neither do a Romberg 3 nor 4, period, due to two strokes. Around the house I tend to have balance issues walking with small steps; outside, with larger steps, to so much balance challenge.

Dog walking is a challenge in itself for anyone. The only difference being that in advanced age a fall may have grave consequences. Did fall myself not for once, had a fractured finger phalanx. A couple of days ago bruised my elbow. But nothing worse.
