Hi Piece... I always say it take as long it take. Time is like poison... it can freeze us with fear. I would suggest not to be concerned how long it take... all the power you will every need is here and now in the present moment. Let go of expectations and you will find it will just flow from you and just happen. 😊🙏

I am in my late 50 s now and always love to doodle draw, I started to draw portraits especially people who I know but I really struggle capturing a family members eyes, even though the socket and surrounding area is in proportion and the eyes ,but they do not look like there eyes this then throws the hole face of from looking like them, its so frustrating it makes me want to give up the whole thing,I don`t know if its my shading or using the wrong B or H pencil lead its driving me mad, Do you have any major tips to capturing the eyes correctly I am so envy of artist who draw well I would love to be just as good,

Hi there, I have found that the values and edges ( some edges have soft a line, some have hard, some have lost edges) I would make sure your values are right... compare each shade with each other, should do the rick... squinting your eyes to see the values will work for this. Piece to you and all the very best! 🙏

@@DavePortersArt Thank you so much for that valuable advice, you are so correct, after looking at my portraits Iv noticed I have over penciled in the lines all the same thickness and color pencil , Gone to heavy in with the B number pencils as well under the top part of the eye on to the eye ball to much shadowing , and line to thick, I need to keep the pencil sharper and come up on the H numbers on most areas, I also now realized once you advised I defiantly need to not draw in the whole lines and learn to fade out where possible, Mine made them look like when I drew my first ever face, so far from being realistic, I also find that I should pay more attention to the small details that are around the eye to capture there own personal traits, That works great squinting I looked at the photo and the shadowed areas were almost blacked out, that`s a cool bit but great knowledge to know I now did a bit more studying into the shades how white back ground can trick the my eyes into thinking the area is darker and a shadowed surround area can make the slightly tone paper look whiter than it is, I think I need to get my self a gradient colored shade numbered card to place against the photograph to check the shades correctly Ive also noticed majority of the time artist used the edge of the point keeping the pencil light on the paper, So why don`t you artist use a lighter grade pencil instead!! is it when you draw lines in you are actually sketching the line so you need to see the line but it lays on top of the paper lighter rather than dig in to the paper, Thank you again appreciate the advice,
