If you can't see the drop-down menu for the "Frame Display Mode" just switch to the "Media" tab at the bottom of the page.

If the sequence has more than 1000 images, it will split them, that's annoying. Is there a setting to disable this?

I have a quicktip if you're using file extensions that do NOT have any semantics, like; 'slow_mo_0000' would work in Davinci Resolve's media importer. But if you have NON-VERBOSE filenaming in place, like '0000.exr' like in my case, Davinci Resolve will NOT import that single frame! So your file-naming is important, and you can test this "theory" of mine in your Davinci Resolve. But you can also FIX IT and here's how; just append those 'zer0-files' with an '-i' to flag they are the 'initial' frame of the sequence. Davinci Resolve will nicely put that file before '0001.exr' as it is picked as a 'higher order number'. So that's how you can solve the problem of "zero" in math, by using imaginary numbers called "letters"

If you want to import a gif to DR, this is the way! Make sure your gif is in individual frames! This was perfect for me to import stuff from aseprite to do some video editing with pixel art!

I got stuck on this too! Check which workspace you are on. At the very bottom of the window, you have several tabs, 'Media', 'Cut', 'Edit' etc. Mine defaults to the 'Cut' workspace, which does not have the three dots, but as soon as I changed it over to the 'Media' workspace, I was able to find this option and it immediatelly imported it as a sequence. Bit late, but thought I'd mention it in case it still helps someone else!

i don't have the icon to access frame display mode , total noob in resolve but omg how can it be so difficult to import a png seq @12fps ....?

I'm on a Mac Sonoma 14.2.1 did exactly what you did, the files remain single images, I need a sequence. DR Studio 18.6.4 Build 6. Is there somewhere a secret setting totally enabling/disabling this?

Hi JayAre, I figured it out. The file naming is crucial. I first renamed my files from LNNNNNNN.JPG (Leica, where N stands for the image number out of camera) into LNNNNNNN_S0000.JPG to LNNNNNNN_S2400.JPG. That is not accepted. It must have format {alpha}{sequencenumber}.jpg

import an image sequence with filename that are not sequential?

I have an idea for a video id like to see. How to take a video clip and export it as an image sequence so I could work on each frame in photoshop that make it into a video again.

Both the image sequence and the original audio track are at 29.97 FPS....but one is always longer than the other. What am I doing wrong? .... Can someone help me to figure this out?

literally could have skipped the whole tutorial if this frame 1:53 was the thumbnail. got love when KZreadrs make a 4 minute tutorial out of a single frame answer. tbh though still thanks it did do the job even if it was longer than I need it to be.

Great tutorial and well explained! I love Davinci but this one thing is not intuitive at all. 😅 No way I would've figured out myself I've got open the tiny 3 dots in the corner of Media mode to change "frame display mode", haha.

When I click sequence, it doesn't make a file for me. Nothing happens.

This will only work if the imagenumbering is like 0001.jpg, 0002.jpg, 0003.jpg. If your images are from a timed sequence which takes every 5 seconds 1 frame, and the image name is the time it was recorded, it does NOT work. You have to rename all images somehow.

Ok.. for some reson i see my images as Clips not Files and i don thave that option to make them a image sequence... EDIT: just noticed i was not in Media Mode... It works in it as expected

How can they not have a simple png sequence importer is just beyond belief. Any other softwares understand it is a sequence when you point at directory filled with .png containing the same file naming.

its in the settings. default is to individual frames but can be set as auto. auto will automatically do what your upset about. Why its not set to default is the real question lol

Right so ABC0000 u have to choose 'sequence' and ABC_0000 you don't have to do that it already understands. Right. Got it. Makes sense. Right.

This did defenitely not work. All my .jpg are treated as seperate videos...

the 3 dots arent in 18.6, cant find a tutorial that covers it. for a popular program there sure is very little documentation 😂 now its sort, refresh, source clip, source tape, timeline safe area, to the right of the "search" field edit: nvm figured it out, by default davinci loads in on the wrong tab. needed to switch to the media tab. why do they have it starting on the cut tab? 😂 im dead haha.

THIS NO LONGER WORKS. In 18.6, there is no "Frame Display Mode" option in the three dots menu anymore.

Looked at my files and realized Photoshop named it like "FILENAME_0000_Layer00.png" so I guess if photoshop did that, delete the "_Layer00" part cuz those numbers are asynchronous for me at least. So leaving this if anyone else has a similar problem. Also you do this in the media tab.
