Imperial model 562, Made in Canada, parts from Japan, after the WW2, early Kenmores, Basically, Imperial was a Sears product, and later turned to the name Kenmore. I just bought one at a thrift store, sooooo happy to find out it is an early Kenmore, as I love the Kenmore brands. I am from Canada, so proud of these machines lasting so well. I even got an original sewing cabinet, and original sewing Manual with my thrift store find. Forty dollars. woohoo!!

These were sold by Eatons. By 1975 Eatons badged these as their house brand Viking.

I have my mother’s machine and it’s at least 50 years old. It certainly is an old workhorse.

Nice machine! I'm in Kitchener Canada we use to have a Electrahome factory here that made electronic products would of made the motor. It probably say's under that label saying where it was purchased "Made in Japan".

I really enjoyed your demonstration. I bought an Imperial 562 with manual and cabinet today at a thrift store. Totally an impulse buy, But now I am floundering about the accessories, as it doesn't have any. Just a straight stitch foot, and an old needle. I need sewing oil, needles, bobbins, etc, for my new vintage machine, before I test drive it, and probably mess it up. Do you have any information on what I need? The manual doesn't actually specify what I need, the "left' needle?? the high shank?? I do not know how to search for those. Would Singer's vintage needles fit? As well as Bobbins? As the Imperial is a very rare machine, I really want to start using as soon as I can eh. Any information, including do you sell these Items, and how to I buy from you??

I have a very similar model/year, but its cream and lavender, model Zigzag #142-B, serial #670071, would ‘71 be the build year? Also is that an Imperial case? Thanks!

Foot pedal needs fixing it starts to sew when plugged in to stop it unplug foot pedal doesnt work. Needs fixing. Wont throw it away.

My imperial 562 machine which someone sold me on Facebook for $100. And said it’s working, but it wasn’t true. Anyway, the needle can’t be adjusted to the middle and keeps coming on the feet and

I had that with mine and I loosened the big nut that holds it. It moved a bit now ok
