I feel like that Polar sailing ship that is coming later this year from Lego sunk the Minerva’s chances. Which is a shame because it’s an amazing build and definitely should have been chosen. Too much castle stuff in the current Bricklink designer series waves.

Wow, nice build! I love the use of barrel pieces to give texture to the masts, and the capstan geared up to raise the two anchors! I appreciate an old sailing frigate with realistic details like the galley and removable interior walls that allow the guns to be used without inference during battle. I'll go vote for your boat.

Thanks! The barrels also increase stability over 2 x 2 round bricks, which is the primary reason for using them.

Voted for it as soon as I saw it ! Superb job. Beautiful lines.

beautiful, im just finishing a similar build, and moving deck cannons out of the way to remove the deck is a challenge, ill have to take some lessons from this. will definitely buy if it becomes a set

This is by far the best frigate moc I have ever seen! I love this!!! I am wondering if you have considered selling the building instructions? I would buy them!

Thanks a lot for your endorsement! Minerva is also the 6th (!) frigate in this scale that I have built, so lots of experiences going into it. Selling instructions doesn't make any sense because the parts cost would be too high; technically it's virtually impossible to buy the parts because the dark blue 6x1 slope used for the stern (needs 4) only comes with the Concorde (once!) and nobody sells them separately. Might get better if pick-a-brick is updated in March, but even then it would still be more than twice the cost than through the designer programme. Please vote! Less than 11 hours left...

@@BrickPerfection There are a lot of ship designs for sale, and all of them are really expensive to build. But none of them are as detailed as this. The 6x1 slope pieces are starting to show up, it would be a shame to not share this ship design or sell it so others could try experimenting or building upon it. I've tried a lot of different hull designs and I really like what you did with this ship.

Too bad it didn't passed....it is such a remarkable model. We definitely need one. This is far better than Lego's Imperial Flagship.... To get one of those we need almost a thousand Euros. This outclass the IF by far...

Thank you! The BrickLink Designer Program doesn't allow for custom fabric pieces, but even if it did it would drive the prices up too much. Having said that, it's really easy to make realistic fabric sails yourself. Here are some that I made in 2012: www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/70943-more-ships-for-the-fleet/ I would of course provide a template for the shape. Just print it, draw the outline on fabric, cut it out, seal the edges with glue, punch some holes and draw some lines - and you got yourself a sail!

And now we get the answer why we dont get ships in bdp..."scheduling conflicts". Lego is doing their own ship, so do not enter any ships into bdp, you will be excluded even if you are number one in votes.
