Immune Booster: 2 Minute Lemon Ginger Tea

drarjan.com - Our home remedy for colds and sore throats. It’s cold and flu season in our neck of the woods….. sore throats, achy joints, muscle weakness, headache, sneezing, coughing, stuffy noses.. the works.
Something that we’ve been enjoying in our family is a lemon ginger blended tea. My husband has been our ‘tea chef’ these past couple of weeks and has developed this out of his traditional cold and flu season ginger lemon tea. We’re loving this because it’s really quick and easy to make, which is a good thing when you still have to get up after a rough night of sleep and having slept an extra 30 minutes and now running late to take your kids to school (I had a few days like that this week).
My husband whipped this up for me, poured it into a jar with a lid, and handed it to me as I grabbed my coat and ran out the door. I was so grateful for it throughout the morning.. it helped clear up the mucous (sorry for the details for those of you who are faint of heart), soothe my throat, and ease the headache.
We would like to share the recipe with you so that maybe you can gain a little relief (or at the very least, a little enjoyment while you’re getting through the cold weather). Even if you’re not sick, this is a sweet little tea to help build your immune system and give you some anti-inflammatory boost.
Homemade Lemon Ginger Tea
- 1 whole peeled lemon with seeds
- 30 ounces of hot water (don't boil water! just a little hot or else the pressure from the hot water can spray out of the blender if the top doesn't have pressure release)
- 1-2 tablespoons honey or alternative sweetener of choice
- 2-3 inches fresh, peeled ginger (or can also do unpeeled if well washed)
Optional: for summer tea, 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves and 6-8 ice cubes
Blend in blender until smooth. I use a Vitamix because it's super powerful, but there are lots of great ones out there now. Use strainer to strain out the 'debris'
Hope you enjoy it!

I've been using Ginger, lemon, garlic and tumeric ever since January 2018. I no longer have high blood pressure, my vertigo is no longer severe, I don't catch colds anymore. If I do, it's very light. I use to catch colds all year around and especially during the summer. My allergies are under control. I don't have toothaches anymore and my skin has cleared up after suffering from acne all my life. I'm also using Ginger on my scalp. Two years and 8 months using this and continually. Morning and night. I love eating raw ginger. I sometimes chop garlics into small pieces and chase it down with water. I can go on and on about the health benefits of ginger, lemon, garlic and tumeric. I use to blend all four ingredients together. Sometimes I would add one naval orange or one kiwi. I've tried bananas, strawberries but didn't like it lol.

@@davidmendy the traditional method is to prepare ginger juice by grinding and allow it to stand through out night.Early morning you can see the white deposit ie.calcium on which u can see the juicy portion of ginger. Then pour that juice alone and add to it lemon juice and honey and also some water if necessary .It would b vru delicious to drink. Not necessary to heat and u will get all the nutrients. Avoid heating to avoid the loss of vitamins.

Under warm water, I uses to scrub the ginger root with a stainless steel wool brillo pad. Now I juice the entire ginger and drink it for an upset stomach or if I feel a cold coming. It works well. Never thought about putting honey in the juice. I don't drink for the taste. However, some of my family can't take the strong ginger. I used to force it on them like a shot glass. Better than my youth; I was forced to drink cod liver oil😝 Pulp and compost goes to the dirt in the backyard. We have a Breville BJE510XL for the last 8 years. It's durable and powerful.

Every morning , after a pit stop ... I drink lemon & ginger root in 16oz of tap water on an empty stomach. I usually take 3 organic lemons and ginger root ( about the size of the first root you had in your hand in the beginning of the video) and drink it straight down ( and there's times the ginger burns ) . I pour a shot glass ( about a half of lemon) into the glass then put water in it. I put the rest of the lemon ginger in a glass jar and use it for the next 3 days. I noticed in a week that I had more pep .

Arjan Khalsa Am I correct in thinking that the store orange juice that is labeled 100% vit C , and others, are fortified? Does fortified juice provide the essential vitamins as well as those same vitamins that are in natural foods? I take a high quality non GMO raw two a day multi and advanced bio-curcumin w/ ginger & turmerones (now it’s Curcumin elite turmeric extract w 45.5 x greater bioavailability. Life Extension is the company. If it’s possible to get the essential macro nutrients from supplements, Life Extensions is the reputable company. I’m not sure what supplements can do but I’m not going to get them from my diet for sure. Lot of processed foods. I’m addicted to sugar. My psychiatrist and I have been trying to to get me off of it but I don’t feel good without it. (I have empty sella syndrome, or pituitary gland is malfunctioning) glucose, cortisol and main hormones are fine but take HCG (mimics LH and FSH) and testosterone. The hunger hormone gherlin (misspelled) is off as well but endocrinologist says that they have no treatment and therefore they don’t diagnose it. So the hormone dr doesn’t discuss severe fatigue, hypersomnia, narcolepsy and the like. My psychiatrist is big into supplements, vitamins and this is not the mainstream medicine of colleges but more like treating the individual with medicine and functioning medicine. I just wonder if the functional supplements do anything. I have a cabinet full of life extension stuff. Very expensive and have yet to commit to anything yet. I have to take vit D3 and zinc for brain and testicular health. The adrenal fatigue vitamins I have yet to try

I made this a few days ago. I didn't need a blender. I just scrapped the ginger skin, smashed it with a chopping knife, boiled it in a small pot, pour it in a mug, squeeze the lemon juice in, dripped in some wild honey and drank it while it's hot. I boiled it with a couple of dates too. The zing you get is marvelous. I chewed some of those ginger too. The following morning I reboiled it but it loses the zing but still makes a good drink. I always use young ginger root. Tastes more bearable. Where I live hot ginger drink is pretty common.

Total new for me making the tea in the blender. Just you say, I'm very consistent with to put never hot/warm stuff in plastic. BPA comes free with even low temperature! Should the tea have the same power, when we make first the mix and warm it up after? I have learned from the Mazdaznan tradition , to cook the lemon first , or put them in a stove. The oil in the rind of the lemon comes by this way inside the lemon. This oil is very curative! The Mazdaznan tribe lived over the 5000 years ago between the Euphrate and Tigris. More to find in google!LOVE Anne

I do ginger and lemon when I'm having gout attack. My everyday drink and for hydration. I boil grated ginger, strain them and add fresh lemon juice AND TURMERIC. I add coconut sugar to taste. Read that coconut sugar has low glycemic index. Don't know exactly what that means. Also good for me during the winter season when cold and coughing is very common.

Hi there! The skin of the ginger has nutrients and should not scrapped off. For those buying them fresh, you may get some soil but they can be rub off with a piece of cloth or sponge or you may brush them under the tap. Eating ginger with its skin, especially on daily basis ensures that it is not too 'hot' for the body.

Hello, I have been using this blend for a long time. Maybe over a year and a half. I started using it for weight loss, but didn't know all the wonderful effect it had for the body until I hit the internet...wow I just wash my ginger under hot water facet with a sponge with a scraper. It cleanses the ginger pretty good. I boil the lemon and ginger adding a small amount of cinnamon then strain it into a large plastic container with a lid. It is quite a lot of work for me, so I try to make a large amount at one time ( sm ). Mason jars is all I drink out of ( sm ).

Why compost the rind when you can dehydrate it and use it in cooking. You're wasting too much of the good stuff. Here's what I do. Slice the ginger and the lemon with the peel on, take about 5-6 slices of each, put in a cup and add boiling water and sweeten to taste. Allow to cool and voila! Beautiful lemon ginger tea to boost the immune system. Works better than stripping the skin which hold most of the elements we need.
