i hear the emotions the different musicians playing this are feeling by the way the strike the keys. some struck softly and gently in sorrow and others smashed down in anger. it is that which makes music the most beautiful thing on earth, how a written song can be played so different by peoples own renditions through the power of their emotions...

yes, that is what is so wonderful - every pianist and violinist and conductor plays it through their emotions and feelings of the way something should be played. this one is beautiful. sometimes the playing of this is so sweet, I can't stand it..Beethoven is not sweet! he's powerful and emotional, deep and sensitive. . . 🌷🌧⛅️

Absolutely true. Some times it's hard to believe, What most people find boring, can be this beautiful. Beethoven,Mozart, and others, they had, they had something undescrible, A talent, which can not be repeated.

There is a story behind Moonlight. I didn't know what it was, but I used my own memory and my experience to add emotion to it, and my teacher was shocked that I would do that... for other composers' songs, I can't play with feeling because I don't know the specific mood. But this one is definitely about a broken heart and shattered dream, and of course about love... and torment and finally, death.

I remember a story in my English Primer in1959 in Boher National School Co. Louth Ireland and it told the story of Beethoven walking one night through some backward street when he heard piano music coming from an upstairs window. Upon knocking the door he was admitted to the room where a little blind girl was playing the piano. He was very impressed by her endeavours and offered to play for her. The only light available in the room was provided by a full moon which shone through on both player and piano. This scenario so inspired Beethoven that he played for the little girl and so the famous Moonlight Sonata was created and has been my favourite piece of music ever since then and hopefully will be my final request on my death bed. I would love to know if anyone else has heard this story and if so it would be marvellous to see it again in written form.

while I loved this movie, it has never been proven that he actually had an immortal beloved. he had several lovers but nobody would stick around due to his temperment. a lot of the times he was also very over reaching when he fell in love..often times falling in love with wealthy pupils....i really feel for him

TRIVIA: Greg Cannom, the make-up artist who made up Oldman in the film, also did him in "Bram Stoker's Dracula" for which he won the 1992 Oscar for Best Make-up, which is why Oldman resembles old Dracula here at 5:39.

dreaming of dancing with her in the moonlight. The longing and the passion with the dew on the grass sparkling like stars. If only it wasn't a dream and she were here. If only we could light the evening with our sacred light of love it surely would pale the moonlight. Yet the moon still shines with its pale light.

No, the story is not true. One of those, "what if it had been this way" movies. The immortal beloved of Beethoven,s was the wife of a patron, she too a patron, and in love w/Beethoven. She was NOT his sister-in-law, whom in reality he despised.

Amadeus is not an historical movie. It is actually a romantic romance and nothing more.. The interesting thing is that time the rockstar of the period was Cristian Bach with his stile galante and not Mozart! Mozart was just a prodigy, genius pianist boy when he was a child and a serve during his time. And Salieri was king of the era since Italian composers were "moda". His operas and Gluck's singspiels were sooo much estimated by public and the courts. So high probably Salieri never cared about him that time. Think it like a very high music producer doesn't care about some talented musician. So don't take seriously that movie. For more information take a look Cristina Cimagalli - Story of Occidental Music - Volume 2

Wow I did not know that, and I'm a big fan of both movies. I think both movies suffered from the same thing, all the actors (with an exception or two) were dwindled/belittled because Oldman's performance was so good in both roles....to an extent the acting except Oldman's was quite bad.
