@@andre-pz1wv It's off putting to say the least. Nirvana is a PUNK-based alternative rock band which goes against corporate music like Imagine Dragons (No offense). To add more grain of salt to Nirvana fans, they covered the most corporate Nirvana single and song in the most corporate Nirvana Album. Nevertheless, I still believe that Imagine Dragons did this to cover a popular song in the 90s which I have nothing against. However, if they were to introduce Nirvana to younger audiences, I'd rather have them play underrated songs like Aneurysm, Breed, Milk It, or Love Buzz (Nirvana Cover).

Why do bands like these do that though?Imagine dragons, Coldplay, maroon 5 etc. they have guitarists, bassists and drummers but most of their songs don’t even feature these instruments or doesn’t have them as prominent. Like what’s the point of being a band you can only be a solo vocalist if you’re not gonna use the rest of the guys.

Well their last album was an improvement. I hear bass in at least some parts in songs like Lonely, Wrecked, Easy Come Easy Go, Giants, Dull Knives (?), No Time For Toxic People and also some live versions of Cutthroat

I'm not really into Imagine Dragons, but I am a huge Nirvana fan and I think they did a great job with this cover. Kudos to them!

This song has so much meaning to so many people. Kudos to Imagine Dragons for giving it their best shot.......we all wish Kurt was still with us.

its a legendary song and just about any one whos playing it can make it good due to the sheer power of the song. but imagine dragons didnt do it justice imo

Why yall hating? it's just a cover. Dan also forgets the lyrics of his own songs at times. Regardless, they clearly had fun playing this and the sentiment was genuine, and that's all that matters in my book.

This would be a pretty cool cover if the singer actually knew the words. The cover is pretty high-energy and fun to listen to, but It's obvious they didn't really practice. Imagine what it would be like if they actually did.

Guitarist did a pretty shit job actually, hes playing it in wrong tuning it sounds like, hes forgetting to mute strings when your supposed to and he fucked up the solo. I get that its not gonna be amazing but he could of atleast put some work into covering the song a bit better.

Octodad No, he just hated the song's fame. Kurt wrote the song because he was "disgusted by his generation's apathy". Tying that in with wanting to create the "ultimate pop song" as a joke, he formed a clever song. True, Krist and Dave were against the song at first, but Butch Vig (their producer) insisted they finish the song and publish it. That song ignited the "Grunge" and "Alternative" genres, and became the #1 alternative track on the charts. Kurt being Kurt, he refused to play it a lot of shows to "weed out" those who just wanted to hear a pop tune. He may have put up an appearance of disgust for the tune, but that's only because he hated the mainstream media and it's popularity.

Covers are supposed to be different. If they're the same as the original, what's the point? And if you're pissed because it's not the same as the original, then fuck off. It's not supposed to be the same. Nirvana were a great band, but so are Imagine Dragons, and at least they're experimenting. I'm pretty sure you'd rather have Imagine Dragons covering this anyway, instead of some One Direction 5sos crap. But if you dislike this so much that you have to complain about it, just go replay the original and forget about this version.

His raspy singing voice when he gets loud, makes this cover better.

Not hating on Imagine Dragons, but it seems like they don't know how to handle distortion and raw tones. They weren't really made to cover this song.

+Tom Garcia , je comprends et je confirme qu'il ne connais pas franchement bien les paroles après c'est de l'interprétation et puis c'est quand même un defis de reprendre cette chanson mais bon, les chansons d'imagine dragons sont quand même géniales et je pense que leurs performances lives de leurs chansons doivent être meilleurs (et je pourrai en faire l'expérience le 27 octobre ahah :3)

+ANDREAetINDIRA Oui fin smells like teen spirit c'est facile pour la guitare comme pour la batterie et comme pour le chant... mais imagine dragon n'en reste pas moins un excellent groupe et qui de plus ne fait pas dans la facilité du rock old school et proposent donc des choses nouvelle :)

Reality is often disappointing

I think more people would understand just how dynamic this song really is it they just tried to sing it. Even for Kurt it was impossible to nail spot on. Such an incredible vocal range is needed. And don't even get me started on the drums. Just try singing it people, it gave me deeper appreciation.

It's obvious they don't know the arrangement of the song and the singer doesnt remember the words. I'm sure people enjoyed it but if you are gonna try to cover legendary music expect people to be extra critical.

I don't think Kurt's is legendary. And I think Dan Reynolds is not Kurt so he never would sing like him and his band never would make music like Nirvana. There are different styles.

Platon Emil Kurt hated himself for going mainstream. Imagine Dragons is a perfect example of many of the things Kurt hated.

xWolfyx This is just my opinion.... I don't really think that we can know what kurt would hated and loved! These are stuff that only kurt can say and no one else! By knowing some facts about Kurt, doesn't mean you can just put words in his mouth and be totally sure about it!

sweet speech in the beginning & they're also one of my fav artists. I really liked this cover (yep though some lyrics were changed) and I like Imagine Dragons much more now

Since Kurt is no longer with us, its good when any modern band covers a classic/defining song of one era and connect it with new era. After all these modern artists are fans of Nirvana just like we are!

This is a lot better than I was expecting

Imagine hearing smells like teen spirit but having to sit through imagine dragon songs afterwards

Except for the fact that Lorde did a really good job at All Apologies by actually doing something interesting with the song. Imagine Dragons just sound like a high school cover band with really expensive equipment.

Aaron Donelly Oh my god, like, get over it. So what, Imagine Dragons didn't sound exactly like Nirvana? Is that a crime? Fall Out Boy's cover of What's This didn't sound exactly like Danny Elfman, My Chemical Romance's cover of All I Want For Christmas Is You didn't sound exactly like Mariah Carey. And everyones fine with those covers. Also, Kurt Cobains voice was guttural and grungy and often times it was hard to make out what he's saying. Especially in Smells Like Teen Spirit. Stop giving Imagine Dragons crap for not getting the lyrics and tune exactly right.

There's nothing wrong with the cover, yeah it sounds different because it's Dan singing not Kurt. I think Kurt would be glad that bands today are honoring his music and living on his legacy. Nirvana did covers to and they didn't sound the same as the original artists so... it's music if you don't like it don't listen to it and don't comment negative things because there's people like me who enjoy both bands

Obviously he forgot the lyrics but there is no need for the hate. The song is not easy to sing and all those saying that it's their fav artist and they don't know the lyrics, try being a singer, they got too much work writing music, editing, going places, etc to be thinking about learning lyrics the day before

ImmortalPancakes I'll tell you what, the day these guys make some decent music, I'll cut them some slack and they can make all the mistakes they want. If it's "realistic" to think that they work too hard to remember the lyrics to "smells like teen spirit", then realistically I think the singer's an idiot.

Personally I really liked this cover, the guitar and the drums are loud and badass imo. Only problem is that the vocalist's voice is just not fit for this kind of genre, let alone this song.

the recording is not good enough....the grunge in the singers voice is not audible for that reason...otherwise he has a very powerful and raspy voice

Omg I love this new Imagine Dragons song!

For everyone who thinks they ruined it. I think it has more to do with them not practicing and less to do with their ability to play it

I listen to both bands and i think that Nirvana would be proud of them. Okay, this version wasn't perfect, they just tried and there's nothing wrong with that, they putted on all the energy in this song and they played as good as they could. People who say that this is a fail are just fool, replay the song and pay attention to the SOUND if you think the voice wasn't good. (Sorry for the bad english, i'm italian)

Its impossible to cover a Nirvana song. They did a great job. Brass balls props. Raw classic forever.

Haha the singer didn't even know when to start singing the second verse. He was supposed to sing it at the 3:00 mark. You can see the guitarist looking at him like "Dude, you gonna fuckin sing the lines or what?" *insert solo*

All these "hardcore nirvana fans" piss me off He changed some words so what? Kurt changed the words to the man who sold the world, son of a gun and Molly's lips and those all sounded fine if not better then the originals... And before you ask I don't think this is better then the original but it was a good cover...
