The hotel had to give a list to the RCMP of all of the staff who would be working that day and security checks were done on everyone. Those of us working that day had to have sessions in protocol (mostly just we don't talk to her, unless she talks to us, we talk to her lady in waiting. etc etc etc..) The place was surrounded! I had to show my name badge and it was checked off on a list to make sure I was supposed to be there! And I was comimg in 3 hours before she was even scheduled to be there! The security at every door, even leading to the kitchen, made it difficult to get around while serving. It was crazy!

I've seen several witnesses interviewed say they saw this shooter and were trying to get law enforcement to react for several minutes before the shots rang out.

People are saying they say the shooter on the building and notified Secret Service/police but they didn’t do anything about it until after he fired shots

Did more laws stop this or a good guy with a gun ??

Apparently attendees saw the man climbing the building and pointed him out to law enforcement. Someone dropped the ball.

The Secret Service had a sniper with a Barrett on an nearby roof. He took him out within one second after the shooter stopped firing.

I seriously doubt they had a Barrett rifle. Not even in 338 Lapua.

An AR 15 isn't a sniper weapon. A real sniper would use a bolt action fixed scope high powered round. Not a 223...

the secret service keeps their service a secret.

The witness who told law enforcement that there was a guy crawling on the roof even described him... in camouflage and carrying a gun, and POINTED to him. He said the law enforcement officer just ignored him & turned and walked away!!! WHAT'S wrong with this picture??? I saw the witness.. he had red hair & a cap on. What else could he do? WHY did that officer just walk away and not even LOOK where the witness was pointing???

The shooter was seen by a guy a block away who told police about him but the officers ignored the person reporting it! The shooter was on a building across from the event! The secret service screwed the pooch!

Why did they wait till "after the fact" to take the shooter out? Should be the question of the day.

Who's first priority in the middle of an assassination attempt is to upload a picture of the dead suspect on Getty images.. can someone explain? And then who looked on Getty images of all places to find this photo? I don't understand

The rhetoric starts with the candidate himself. They report what he himself says and does and implies. Along with the meetings he takes, and the militia groups he dog whistles to, and the actions he never speaks out about. Trump needs to stop expecting everyone to take what he says as a sick joke. Not everyone is going to get the joke, nor do they want to. If it even is a joke.

What I find remarkable is that no one from the Secret Service or the police were monitoring this elevated position with a clear line of sight to the podium. Some spectators noticed the gunman crawling up the building and taking a position on the roof and pointed this out to the police, who apparently did nothing But run around in confusion. It seems tremendous breakdown in security arrangements that could easily have been prevented. This is farm country! A Barn sticks out of the landscape like a sore thumb!

This is unacceptable.

@@NebulousCat I think no matter what end of the political spectrum you're on, this proves that if you want assault style weapons to be legal, then you need to take protections. My God, your guy almost died today and you want him to have another unsafe rally?

I feel really bad for the family of the guy that got hit and killed. I know what it's like to lose family members I loved with all my heart(my mother and father in recent years), and I can't imagine what that person's family is going through right now. Curse that man for what he did. And I really hope the lady that was said to have gotten hit didn't sustain a serious injury. I really hope she gets a full recovery. This is ridiculous that so many people are being driven by ideological hatred to go out and do these horrible things. Where is our empathy for our fellow human beings, I just don't understand how anybody could hurt someone else like this 😥
