I’m a 51 year old black man from Indiana and I am NOT a fan of Jason Aldean’s brand of Country music. But after hearing that he wrote this “racist” song, I had to listen to it three days ago, and you know what? I COMPLETELY AGREED! And just to give a finger to cancel culture, I paid to download it. This song has nothing to do with racism. Great message about taking a stand against violence.

Since you are NOT a fan of Jason Aldean, go listen to your Rap and then throw a brick through a window. You'll feel better about yourself. Anything I like and listen to, I don't want you listening to it. How would you understand it anyway, it has actual singing and the playing of instruments. Something you as a Black man are not familiar with.

@@ricenglish4556 Huh? I think you either did not understand my comment or you took it completely wrong. I cannot stand rap / hip hop! I just don’t much care for the Country music that has been produced the last 10 to 12 years. That’s all. I love George Strait, Mindy McCready, the mid 90’s Country music. I’m a drummer. I came up listening to and playing in punk rock, hardcore, heavy metal, and trash bands. I love death metal (Morbid Angel is my favorite), old school alternative music, praise and worship, traditional Irish music, and philharmonic orchestras.

@@josephdixon1688 -- I seldom, if ever listen to Country music. I'm a lifelong Rock guy and I like most variations of it including Pop Rock, Surf guitar, Progressive, Standard, Punk, New Wave, some Grunge, Alternative, and of course, Metal. I'm aware of those old funky Black Blues guitarists and Hendrix's Psychedelic Blues and i just don't like it. In spite of the fact that Blacks seldom play instruments, they are given credit for all music and that's a bunch of crap. A lot of credit given out for songs they didn't write and styles they don't have. Nothing personal, but I've never heard of a Black drummer. If you say you are, okay. I think you would be better served listening to computer generated Hip Hop. Stick to Black Gospel and stay away from Christian Hymns and Folk music. Orchestrated music and Bluegrass are also not for you. Possibly go with Count Basie and that Ella Fitzgerald Best of luck.

But it's still got the small vibe. We are neighbors. But at retirement going to buy in the country. Gotta teach grandkids what it's like to be productive before it's too late. They are 7 now. I'm native American, and was also raised in the country and small towns. Sticking together, and truly being there for your neighbors. Much like a large extended family, sure there will be some minor disputes . However when the need arises, you don't hesitate to rise up together to protect your own. His song depicts that very unity, help each other and stand united. Whoopi is way off base with her lil click, trying to defame a good person. Just cause she's jealous, that she'll never reach the same connection as he already has. Back in the day, Whoopi was a great actress in movies like "Jumping Jack Flash & Ghost". But since then, she steadily declined from being well liked. To now being seen for her true self, and she is going to lose what pull she assumed she had.

Nothing disimular than what a small town would do to defend themselves from violators. You have no clue to who and these businesses and properties belong to in these big cities. However, there are a few knucklehead criminal in there taking advantage, but that wasn’t the point. How do you feel about school shooting and massacres of children? Thats a small town thing.

We all watch out for each other and don’t put up with crime, period. I will say a phone is the second thing I reach for…my firearm will always be first. Thank you so much for your reaction. And smaller town life, it's pretty simple when you treat each other as neighbors.. I've lived in mixed neighborhoods my whole life.. our children played with the kids next door.. regardless of race.. and we made a deal.. that if our kids got off the bus, or his did and we were late getting home from work? Our home, his, was a safe spot for the children to stay till mom, dad got home.. There was that kind of care, trust in our neighborhoods.. Just like this young man's song points out.. I am from a small town and went to a church where my family and one other person were the only white folks. I was embraced with such love and put in the choir (the only child in the choir). My mama was asked to play the piano and sing specials with a trio. When our water got tuned off because my daddy got laid off they took up a special collection for us paid our bill got us groceries and the collection of money was given to us for anything us we may have needed. It wasn't just a few dollars either it was quite a bit. When we moved they cried with us and gave us a going away party with food and presents. I am still very close to them til this day and it's been 34 years. I called them Aunties and Uncles and the elders I called Grammy and grandad. I love these people with all my heart and if I thought this song was in anyway racist I would be very upset and speak out about it. I agree with others here stating this is about community and togetherness. "Love thy neighbor" , respect and patriotism.

I am Hispanic & I used to live in the Black Community for 31 years. I lived next to a all Black Baptist Church. My 11 yr. old brother developed a brain tumor, and underwent " Brain Surgery" The Nerosurgeon told my parents that my brother might not make it during the surgery& if he did he wouldn't be able to walk or talk. My brother lived to Retirement age after working more than 30 yrs. of his life. He was married for 20 yrs. And lived a normal life with Some pain but he is still alive.Right before my Mother passed in 2019, we discussed how it was a miracle my brother was still alive with a " stint" from his brain to his abdomen. People who had that type of surgery normally don't live that long. As we were talking she said.." If it wasn't for the " Baptist Church" near our old home many year's ago, your brother would have never made it. She then proceeded to tell me how that entire " Black Congregation" got on their knees and prayed for my brother.Tears filled my eye's, I said, " Mom" " How did they know?" She said, " I never told the Pastor anything", " I guess " God" does work Miracles"

Now I want to first start out by saying I don't see anything wrong with the song... But from what I am hearing is that apparently the courthouse that was featured held a public lynching sometime from 1925-1950. At least that's what I am hearing from my circle. But even if they are saying that they didn't know that part they wouldn't have an issue with it. But because of the lynching that happened it...... makes the song racist..... So now I am stuck trying to make that correlation between the song itself and the courthouse that held the lynching and the choices surrounding that. I'm so confused by that logic. So here I am, asking someone to make it make sense to me.

It`s a great song. I`ve listened to the song several times. And watched the video several times. I love the song and video. It sends out a positive message. It shows real news footage. Nothing is reenacted. Not only should this song be a motto for small towns. Burt for big towns, big cities, and small cities alike. My family came from two small towns. Zemach, Poland. Of course, that was during the first and second world wars. And Bradford, Pennsylvania. Families knew each other. That was in the 1950s and 1960s. And of course. In the 1970s and 1980s. After moving to Brooklyn, New York. Way after I was born back in 1968. The whole family, used to vacation in Lake George, New York. The mind set is different. Things move at a slower pace. And I believe. When people move from a small town, to a big city. They bring those small town values with them. Plus there are small towns all over the world. What the song basically says. One, or many people come here. Whatever garbage all of you plan on doing. Don`t do. And if you do. We`ll chase you out of here. But it also says. But it also says. You`re welcome to stay here. And not break the law. And don`t do any nonsense. At least that`s what I think. Plus. Back in 2009. I saw Jason Aldean and his band. live in concert. In the small town in Rhinebeck, New York, at The Dutchess County Fair. Him and his band put on a great show. And the ticket price was a decent price. At $25.00. And the concert was outside. It`s not like a major arena. Where it sits 40,000 thousand people. This outdoor grandstand sits at least, 500 or more people. I don`t see or hear any negativity in the song or video. But the short film shows the negativity from actual news footage. Because. back in 2020. After the Derek Chavin George Floyd incident. That`s all I saw on the news every day. A peaceful protest is one thing. Where many people march and chant. Maybe a few public speakers here and there. I don`t know. And call it a day and go home. But vandalizing personal, and municipal property. That`s not part of a protest. And that`s grounds for arrest and jail time. I don`t have a problem with real news footage being shown. But the left has a problem with it. And the leftist media problem with it. And the leftists Hollywood elitists, have a problem with it. And the few leftist musicians have a problem with it. Well, they need to stop whining. Grow up. Smell the coffee. Stop with the infantile behavior. And behave themselves properly. And stand with Mr. Jason Aldean and his song. And that`s the bottom line.

We were able to support each other and go through our lives knowing our neighbors/community was a safe place in a time of emergency or to just sit an chat with! I moved to Indianapolis for awhile and you don’t know your neighbors, everyone is so busy running back and forth to work to get more “stuff,” yet they never had time to use it! Stuff are just “things,” but when you come back home the people from your community are always there for you! Things are meaningless if you can’t see the difference between them and your neighbors that will never let you down!

I was born in Chicago and my wife is from a small town in southern Illinois. It is two totally different worlds. We live in the suburbs now and I cringe whenever we have to go back into Chicago for doctor’s appointments, other business, or just tourist activities. Last year we had a drive by occur from three cars behind us while we were sitting at a red light. Just last week two guys were racing each other on motorcycles on the sidewalk where shoppers and children were walking. My wife’s small town is exactly like the song. The biggest inconvenience is having to leave extra time when going to Walmart because you will meet someone you know and talk awhile. When I go to the tobacco shop to buy my cigars the owner always tells me to say hello to my wife. It seems like everyone there owns a firearm or several and yet there is rarely, if ever, a murder. When someone is sick or passed away they come together and bring meals to the family or hold an auction to help pay medical expenses. One of the town’s native sons was shot in the line of duty as a police officer in St. Louis. He was highlighted in the county fair parade. As the car he was riding approached us you could hear the roar of applause get louder. It really is a different world. They do have problems. There are not many jobs. The fire department is volunteer. There is the occasional meth lab and child abuse. Not only the police take care of it, but if you’re back out of jail you’d be better off moving somewhere else. They don’t put up with crime like that. Another song similar to this is about 40 years old and by Hank Williams Jr. called “A Country Boy Can Survive” and it compares rural and urban life nicely as well.

I'm from a small town in Texas. Just yesterday, we had a fire break out in one of the ranches due to a lighting strike. The area rallied around that rancher. They loading up as may horses, sheep, and cattle that they could in their own trailers to save them. And transported them to safety. He lost his barn and a major part of his holding areas. Today, the clean up started. All walks of life are there. This is small town life. We look out for our own, no matter the color, religion or financial status. Try getting this type of community in a big town.

Everytime I hear this song I cry. I'm mourning the loss of our beautiful America.😢🇺🇸 Things don't feel the same anymore. Nothing but anger, sin, and destruction everywhere. I'm a Black woman living in a small town amongst mainly Whites. As a community, we do care for one another (our neighbors). "Try This In A Small Town" by Jason Aldean is a great song. I am NOT triggered by this song; I actually love it; and have enjoyed listening to it over and over again. I don't see or hear racism, or violence being promoted. The Dems and MSM are insulting Blacks by saying this song is attacking us; as if only Blacks commit all the crimes. They are the racists and pushing gun control. Trying to take away our rights to bear arms. Unlike many vulgar and violent rap songs, I can enjoy this one because it speaks about the love for America (our beautiful home) and truth. Pray for America! Repent America while you are able!!!❤️🇺🇸❤

I'm a 70 year old white woman who grew up in a small town in Utah and I dearly love this song. I listen to it over and over and every time it sends shivers up my spine and tears to my eyes. As one of the commenters below said, it brings us together, which is desperately needed in these awful times. I'm glad to see that you have the original version, Antionette. They changed the Official Version just a day or so ago, cutting several things including the spoken section about small town people helping each other. It's a great loss,. To me, that was the best bit, the voice of the older farmer who needed help was very moving. And today I looked back at many of the reaction videos I had already seen and the cuts were already there in videos that had been complete before. Keep that video in your archives, it would be very sad for it to be lost! Great commentary, I'm a new subscriber now!

What's happening in our country when we stop caring about the needs of others. If someone has a need, we come together; have a fund raiser at our local community center and get the need taken care of for family or neighbor in need.
