"I wanna fit out." Pretty profound. Nothing wrong with that. Cool people are never as cool as they think they are anyway. Styx is worth looking into a bit deeper. 3 vocalists in that group with totally different styles. Yet they made it work beautifully.

If I would have had those words when I was a teenager I would have repeated them every day. I think STYXS has a lot of fans that chose to fit out, decided they were going to be themselves and not care what the cool kids and other groups thought about them. the music itself is individualistic, unique and always testing and expanding borders.

This song is a classic, but if you want to hear a full on banger you have got to check out STYX - Renegade. Great jam that'll make you move.

Congrats to everyone! I was always the designated driver for my friends because I don't drink. Never have, my dad was killed by a drunk driver when I was a baby. So I don't judge, but just want everyone safe.

When I was a kid we had big brothers who bought records and then showed them to us. This is the new way of doing it. Keep doing what you are doing. I wish records would come back like they were in the 70's.

The short lived series Freaks and Geeks used this song at the end of it’s pilot episode. Capturing a school dance circa 1980 perfectly.

When you hear the real talent from musicians "back in the day" you see why us old farts are so disappointed with current music. There's no talent that isn't computer generated/altered anymore. But our "classics" show the real talent in the vocals & all the instruments. Plus the song writing was just better. Music was meant to strike an emotion or memory. And you end up with amazing songs from incredible bands. Even if they're singing about aliens. lol

This song was SO SO huge. It got so much radio play it was insane. Every time I turned on the radio it was there. I remember learning to play it on the piano as a child and being asked constantly by friends to play it. Heh.

'Sweet Madame Blue' is pretty awesome. Saw them in concert thirty something years ago in Chicago for their Cornerstone album tour. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.

Styx has roots in suburban Chicago, I grew up not to far from where they got their start. I still love their music. Class of 82 Joliet West.

I was thinking the same.

STYX “was” a great Rock band until...lead singer Dennis DeYoung lost his mind and took the band in a direction only HE was interested in...Theater. Mr. Robato was developed and Stxy was ruined. Too Bad because Guitarist Tommy Shaw was one of the best at the time. Tommy jumped ship! End of an era.

They still tour, along with REO. Worth the price of admission. Great music!

The slow piano part is about someone growing up and enjoying life then being an adult and trying their best to make their dreams come true and falling just a little short. The hard rock part describes someone at the end of their life and the angels coming down to take them back home. Hence, 'come sail away'
