I was fortunate to see Mr. Gringolts play with the Ausitn Symphony. ?hey did the 4 Seasons--I don't think I've ever really HEARD it before (real birds!). He is a phenomenon!!! Go see him play!

I admire his attempt at souping up Paganini. I just think the music is souped up enough as it is.

One gets a sense this is how Paganini would have approached this work. Very dramatic and nuanced. Live, from what I have studied, Paganini would NOT have displayed a more linear or safe approach to these works. We forget, on stage, Paganini was very much the entertainer. When you read the eyewitness accounts of Paganini live, this performance reflects more of what they recall.

That reminds me of a recording from Kavakos at this piece.

@@villesarkilahti4975 Yeah Kavakos nailed it for sure! The precision he was able to keep alongside the incredibly fast tempo... that's something that belongs to Kavakos in my opinion. No one else comes close. I know some Gypsies can get the Kavakos speed (and faster), but generally the sound is an absolute mess.
