  The music is one of those miracles of art that makes me feel reconciled to mortality. The playing is magical -- somehow these two did a mind-meld before they started the performance so that every rubato, every dynamic gesture, every phrase was as if one mind were performing. Maisky is not technically flawless, but, seriously, is that bothering you?

  I feel like the only thing that could have made this better if the performer wore a velvet medieval outfit. And the stage could have been dressed up like a great Royal Hall with tapestries on the wall and candles and noble looking lords and ladies listening.
