In this photo editing tutorial, I show how an artistic, illustrative style of processing can be achieved easily using HDR software. I start with the black and white photo we edited in this tutorial • Black and White Portra... and simply import it into Aurora. Straight out of the box the software uses it's intelligent AI engine to create a very pleasing result.
Usually, HDR software is used to merge several photos with differing exposures, but in this instance, I show how even importing just one photo can open up the doors of creative options.
Personally, for me, Aurora HDR has rekindled my interest in HDR imaging.
The finished Aurora image could be left as it is or brought into Photoshop for further fine-tuning. Layering the HDR version over the top of the original and masking in the HDR only where you want it is another powerful possibility. I think I'll be using that technique a fair bit in my architectural photography workflow.
