Wait, what do you after the levels to get it looking normal again especially skin tone?

Try using ctrl when adjusting the sliders. Will be more accurate. Just reach the point when detail starts to appear. Your welcombe.

Thank you so much for this ! This is the current problem I am having. I have a photo from 1931 that is significantly damaged and very faded with little image information. I thought about trying to bring back the detail through channels but i'm not sure I know what Im doing exactly to then recapture and detail that information. Can you help?

I suppose it's not possible to make the faded faces come to life, is it? I have several family pictures taken when cameras were not very good. You can't see people's eyes and the faces look like bees attacked the skin!
