These lists need to be taken in perspective. They're a snapshot of popularity at the time they're made. They change based on who made a comeback, who has a new song out, who's making news. They can provide some info to advertisers, but, otherwise, they don't really mean anything, no matter who's on top.

There actually is no evidence that ANY advertisers or business pay any attention to these "brand reputation" rankings. The name is misleading. It has nothing to do with real brand reputation. There is no real-world entity called the "Korean Business Research Institute" that has any website or physical address anywhere. The monthly "rankings" are literally ONLY reported in Kpop media (including channels like this and some of the Kpop gossip websites). It does appear to be based only on counting the number of times the names of idols or groups are mentioned in Korean media during a month. For all we know, it could be just some person in their bedroom doing it on a laptop computer. They never reveal exactly what their methodology is, so nobody can even fact-check the "results".

@@TEAM__POSEID0N I was talking about local advertisers who could come up with a campaign and get it out in a week to try to ride the popularity wave. I worked on so many of those. Some paid off, most didn't. I agree about the rankings. Korea has a spiderweb on top of a pile of spaghetti when it comes to rankings, charts, sales sites, T.V> show "trophies", etc., etc. This allows fans of pretty much any group to claim that their favorite is the best because they ranked first there, or sold more albums here. Trying to get cumulative data on K-pop is ridiculous.

The monthly so-called "brand reputation" ranking has always been a silly gimmick. It has nothing to do with real brand reputation. At best it just counts the number of times an idol or group's name appears in Korean media (including social media...maybe) during a month. But even that can't be confirmed. The so-called "Korean Business Research Institute" does not even exist. At least there is no website and no physical address for it and no information on it (such as CEO, founding date, location) can be found anywhere. It and the ranking list are literally ONLY ever mentioned on Kpop gossip sites and Kpop gossip channels. There is no evidence that ANY businesses or advertisers pay any attention to it or even think about it ever. Even when artists I love are at the top of this list, I don't really care because I know it doesn't mean anything.
