I go to iFly regularly. It has inherent dangers but it does blow my mind the instructor did not intervene. Without a good amount of experience they usually barely take their hands off of you.

For real I got signed off for level one belly and before that if I got unstable he was literally a foot away ready to grab me. The one I go to in Arizona has strict safety measures and if you flip like a fish they won’t let you back in the tunnel unless you learn to relax

Hey man that is terrible. But doing that kind of activity, at that age, comes with a multitude of potentially bad outcomes. I am sorry at the outcome but there is personal accoutibility that seems to be ignored. I also understand the life altering outcome leaves the person with no other choice but to sue or be devastated finacially.

@@lu_re7198 Sure it does. As you age you age you bones become more brittle, muscle mass and strength decrease. The likelihood of a severe injury from a simple event increases with age. Its why it very common for older adultsto break hips frequently from a fall that a younger person doesnt even bruise from. So at his age, you should avoid high risk behaviour.

A waiver would only hold up in court if the terms are considered reasonable. The waiver said that you could be hurt, but his injuries went beyond that. Also, negligence is not considered reasonable, someone should've been there. Just because you sign an informed consent waiver to have a medical procedure done, doesn't mean you can't sue your doctor if something goes wrong, if he's at fault. Ifly tried to use the waiver to have the case dismissed and the judge denied the dismissal.
